@DanDare2050 - Would you please be so kind as to write up your 'faction system' as a potential article for Freelance Traveller (Doing It My Way section)?

Re: Feedback requested: Starship Illustration format.
I like the sample page, except that for the stats, you want the text to be black and the grey background to be somewhat lighter. Separately, I'd like to see deck plans, and not isometric ones, either - plain black-and-white line drawings are ideal.

[Freelance Traveller] September/October 2016 is up!
The September/October 2016 issue of Freelance Traveller is available for download! This issue's feature is Joe Webb's adventure, The Petrified Forest. Re: Art:200 Ton Free trader
Please, wbnc, contact me by email, editor@freelancetraveller.com. I think that if you can do some scenes that fit nicely in 8.3x11, with 'bleed' to go out to 8.5x11.7, you can have some Freelance Traveller covers.

Re: Ideas For New Psi Powers
I've never particularly liked the idea of psi at all, and certain of the powers just strain credulity a bit too much for me. Also, I tend to be a "fellow traveller" with respect to the idea of Old School Roleplaying, where you don't have a skill for everything; you make do with what you do have, and...

Re: High Skill Rollers 2: Persuade
I could also see a not-quite-top persuader being a salesman - he wouldn't need to necessarily have both Belief and Empathy, though it's likely that he does have one or the other. Consistency, as described here, isn't really necessary for the salesman , though it would be for the account manager - wh...

Re: Cepheus Engine
Jeff, maybe you haven’t noticed, but I actually have been making my case; you just never bothered to read; that, or maybe you just don’t know your dice distributions. I don't make it a practice to memorize distributions; when I need specifics, I can look them up. Generally, for gaming, I don't need...

Re: Cepheus Engine
I think T20 failed more because it was simply a bad implementation of d20 rules with Traveller - possibly because it came out rather early in the d20 era, before D20 Modern was released, and it was trying to fit D&D-style rules into Traveller when it could have been a lot more original about it (as...

Re: Cepheus Engine
So, yeah, polydice Traveller has been tried. It wasn't the only possibility for polydice, but it was the most likely one to be looked at, and the memory is going to make the old hands a bit leery of anything like it. I have to admit that I doubt that the epic fail of Traveller 20 has much to do wit...

Ok, that does it. Someone's got to take some of the ideas from this thread and write a full-length feature adventure for Freelance Traveller. Press deadline is three days ago, but I'll let it slide if you get it to me by yesterday...

Re: Cepheus Engine
What dice would make Traveller a better game , regardless of “economics and convenience” ? A well-stated question. The first answer that comes to my mind is for backwards compatibility with MgT 1e material. Then again, that may fall under the "economics and convenience" umbrella. As far as probabil...

Re: Blacklisted Spaceships?
You know, responses to this in terms of a used ship are easier, but for a new ship seem more difficult... The Power Plant for this production year of ship is known for... exploding... dangerously. Your ship has been successfully recalled and had that unit replaced with a much more reliable model, b...

Re: Cepheus Engine
Again, I’m not advocating for anything, other than the best , by whatever mutually agreeable metric. I’m simply stating that an argument based on availability has no real merit. Suppose, for instance, the d6es were each labeled -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2; that would eliminate that pesky -8, wouldn’t it? D...

Re: Blacklisted Spaceships?
Its listed as the ship would be impounded in several systems with a -1DM to Broker checks so how would you explain that? Idea lifted from the Liaden Universe: The owner of the ship - or the group that the PCs with the ship are contractors for - is banned from trading at those worlds, and is conside...

Re: Cepheus Engine
You’re assuming too much about what I said, instead of taking it at face-value. Dice with different sides are neither more convenient nor more simple. Plenty of people have played board games that relied on custom dice. The niche that the d6 has occupied as “the ubiquitous one”, or “the cheapest on...

Re: Cepheus Engine
I don’t think the price of dice is a serious consideration here. It would be better if Traveller used the polyhedral set as a basis of what is available, and used the genuinely most appropriate dice from those available polyhedrons. Gameplay should trump financial reasons over which dice to use. Pe...
