If you want a swashbuckling game, then make wearing armour difficult. Increase the armour penalties, make them slower and so on. Even with those limitations its still so totally overpowered, when compared with other Legend spells, that I don't like it. I mean combine it with Damage Enhancement and you can nullify armour protection then and there. Concentration isn't a problem if a sorcerer is far enough back and out of range ...

That Aura of Destruction spell just seems to be a hugely overpumped Wrack spell to me. I would not allow it in my campaign because the way its worded makes it just peachy for abuse. Keep in mind that Common Magic was Battle Magic in the earlier editions of Runequest and pretty much all of the spells had a combat focus. MRQ II / Legend was heading in the right direction, but represents an evolutionary step between earlier conceptions and RQ 6 - we were referring to Common Magic...

RQ6 thinks you should have 3AP's as base with combat specialists rating maybe 4AP's the very antithesis of what I originally supposed. Where's this said in the rulebook? To get 4 AP in RQ you need INT+DEX 37 or higher which you only get if you have stats ranging outside of the 18 cap for human char...
