Re: RIP Andrew Boulton

Rest in peace Andrew.

Who else (other then Andrew) was involved with making the Traveller calendars? It would be nice for these to continue and at least a portion of the proceeds to go to Andrew's family somehow.

Re: Vehicle Handbook Errata (unofficial)

Speeds Off-road or over difficult terrains. Past incarnations of Traveller included on and off road speeds for vehicles. MGT has only a single speed rating. Do we need an adjustment for different terrains? An off-road speed as percentage of the base speed? Thoughts please. EDIT: Nevermind found the ...

Re: Vehicle Handbook Errata (unofficial)

Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to edit anything above yet. Hoping for some more comments, error checking (Errata for the Errata!) and some questions answered by Colin when he gets a chance. EDIT: Removed some of the other speculation after receiving clarification from Colin and re-reading Pag...

Re: Vehicle Handbook Errata (unofficial)

A work in progress: Last edit 09/17/2012 My personal notes, usually explanations for the errata, are in italics. Page 3 Design Checklist (Clarification & Corrections) Under Step 2, replace , “Once this is complete, you can now calculate the vehicle’s Base Cost.” with, “After choosing chassis modifi...

Re: Vehicle Handbook - Now Shipping!

Colin I've gone through this thread and am slowly putting togather some errata. Some items will need questions answered. Some items of errata are of course up for debate.

Are there any other threads at this forum (or others) with potential errata?

I'm going to go ahead and start a new thread.

Re: Vehicle Handbook - Now Shipping!

So, do we have any errata yet? Corrected design examples, the correct cost for pop-up turrets, the crew sizes for submersibles? Also, none of the design examples give spaces or chassis type - you have to work backwards from shipping spaces & structure Any errata up yet? I have lots of notes from th...

Re: New Home Grown Campaign setting - Space 2199

I tell you there are alot of middleaged RPGers that remember that show and it has always been in the back of my own mind too. Using it as a theme setting base for my campaign has always been something I wanted to do and I believe it will work well. I never saw the show even though I was old enough ...

Re: New Home Grown Campaign campain setting - Space 2199

Here's a campaign timeline for your to pilfer what you like. Sorry I got a little carried away with your ideas: (don't let the players know anything in advance) 1. Players are engaging in their current career(s) or just retired and received new jobs. Something pulls them all to the Moon. They have n...

Re: New Home Grown Campaign campain setting - Space 2199

Interesting concept. As for the Moon and it's situation. The explosion caused some fault line issues. With out the gravity of the Earth and the Sun to help stabilize (keep in the normal that is has been for eons) the Moon is slowly starting to fall apart. Each time they 'Jump' a bit more of the Moo...

Re: New Home Grown Campaign campain setting - Space 2199

Excellent idea. Sounds like a SyFy channel show I would watch. Have you considered what the closed environment upon the Moon would mean for the survival of the population? I would imagine that when the Moon passed through each system, ships would be sent out not just to explore, but to gather missin...

Re: Guns of Navarone and other movies used as inspiration

I once based some Star Wars adventures on classic WW2 movies. Two more good examples for such are Where Eagles Dare and Kelly's Heroes. Dare has the usual stealth + action but has the added twist of a supposed mole. You would need to make sure your characters are either not knowledgable of the movie...

Re: Traveller 5th Edition

I never liked Gurps myself and being a DieHard Traveller collector, I never ought any of that stuff. That says alot for me, because I buy EVERYTHING...but I did not buy THAT stuff. You missed the best Trav material produced. I own everything else since I started buying in '78. I never played GURPS ...

No, because the legalese is what matters.
Ok I'm sorry, but I guess I live in a different world than you. Where I'm from it's doing the right thing that matters.

Re: App for Generating Worlds

See that was easy... just ask Matt and reach an understanding. I think it would have been much better if Matt had shown some basic understanding of how the OGL worked in the first place, before asking the OP to stop working on this. Then none of this would have happened at all. But still, all's wel...

Re: App for Generating Worlds

Ignore the legaleeze for a second. Who owns Traveller? Marc Miller. Who has he given permission to make Traveller stuff? Mongoose. Who controls Mongoose? Matt. Does Matt want you to do this? Apparently not. So, yes, it's the honorable thing to not do it. Matt isn't telling you not to make non-Travel...

Re: App for Generating Worlds

Well my personal opinion is, if Mongoose is the license holder and doesn't want you to do it, then don't be an ass and don't do it. Even if there is some legal loop-hole that allows you to do it, the peeps that paid for the license don't want you to do it. So, even if you don't like it, it is the ho...
