Re: Hard Burn

I join the others in saying "Bravo!" Sounds like an incredible campaign. By the way, if anyone in your campaign scoffs at the blue skin, have them look up methemoglobinemia. A family in Kentucky was known for very blue skin, thanks to this genetic condition. And speaking of genetic conditions, "fur...

Re: Hard Burn

Well, here's a ship for someone better than me to deckplan out. Due to the warp drive's effect on the economics, I reduced the cost of all components (except armor [which gets a discount due to it's being based off hull price], weapons, the Air/Raft and programs) by 30%. The two things that are diff...

Hard Burn

You can thank or blame Egil for giving me this particular brainstorm... Something had gone wrong. Our ancestors were a slowship colony from Old Earth, fleeing from what was a dying planet. We aimed for the Galactic Core, where we believed the most habitable planets existed. But something went wrong....

Re: Implications of Warp Drive

Thanks for hashing this out guys. I'm writing up a setting that uses the warp drive rules (and takes place in a cluster that has a 20 parsec or more void between it and the rest of the universe)

Re: New to Traveller

Second, third or fourth the above, for a "Firefly" campaign Core book is, frankly, all you need. Scoundrel may be useful (if Mal had read it he and his crew might have spent less time cocking their heists up!), and CSC may be of interest for kit (though I would recommend that you decide what items ...

Re: Campaign Guide now on PDF

(Oh yes and I have also now taken Robots off my list of buyable books as well thanks to this thread as I know I probably wont like that one now either!) Robots was really good except for the build system. That just left out one very important little thing: Do arms and legs use slots or add slots? a...

Re: Tactical Space Combat

The Mongoose system is almost identical to the old CT system. You could use the MayDay rules almost completely as written with the Mongoose system. Acceleration is still acceleration etc. The one big difference is the length of a turn. In MGT it is shorter, which means the hexes in MayDay will need...

Re: Will the Solomani Rim have Mega Freighters

Will the Solomani Race book or Sector book have details of any Megafreighters for MGT? Given that when you do the sums, 2000dt freighters will not cut the mustard, I am hoping for stats of some Megafreighters for my game. Thanks and regards There's the 100,000 ton superfreighter in High Guard. I th...

Re: Campaign Guide now on PDF

Ok, I think that most of us can agree that Mongoose needs to stop pumping out large amounts of product so quickly. As for reasonable time period, all we really need is six to eight months for production if the book isn't that complicated (And this includes playtesting). Set aside half a month to go ...

I think that he means Movement on a grid/hex map. If so, then yes, High Guard does have rules on that.

Re: Suggested (Unoffical) CSC Erratta and Amendments

[quote="Egil Skallagrimsson" As regards flamethrower (actually, this came up in during a game last month), as far as I am concerned, if you have any weapon skill, and have had ten minutes to familiarise yourself with the nozzel control, ignition system etc, you have "Flamethrower 0", I don't see thi...

The entire book needs to be rewritten to be internally consistent, especially with the other books.

I might work on some rules options, test them, and if they work then I'll send them in. Maybe as bundle for you to parcel out or put in all at once. Sound good?

Re: Traveller, still popular

I've played D&D 3.0/3.5 and 4e, and Traveller. I prefer Traveller, it is definitely rules light, I can easily whip up some housrules for it, make new careers, or hey, I can even play in a Darkover campaign (Admit it, Traveller is perfect for playing in MBZ's Darkover). Meanwhile, in my old D&D group...

OR that the prices of the civilian versions are kept high to prevent every two-bit pirate from being able to stealth-jump.

Re: Damage to gear

Yeah, considering those, the damage threshold might need to be higher. But I really don't think so. 150% sounds pretty good to me as a baseline, but your mileage may vary. In a mercenary game, or one where you're really likely to face all the varying sorts of AP ammo, then you might revise it upward...

Re: Damage to gear

To me this is a good way to buy used armor in a secondary market. Armor with patches, armor that’s been reduced in effectiveness from combat. You will also get nice visuals from grizzled veterans who’s favorite armor is replete with patches and replacement segments. Any thoughts? Too much thought i...
