Re: Book margin layout suggestion
Well, as long as we are complaining about the book layout . . The background pattern that mongoose uses really, really slows down the page rendering on tablets, and I have a pretty good tablet. Is it really necessary? I use a pdf cracker to unlock the files, then adobe acrobat to delete the backgrou...

Also, if one of he players has a decent broker skill, the speculative trading rules will make them billionaires, not bankrupt.

Re: Critical hit severity and repairs
If you’re specially looking to disable a ship, you could use the add on “called shot” rules that allow a gunner to target a specific system. They are included in the MgT1 “Scoundrel” career book, and an easier adaptation in the Pirates of Drinax campaign. Short version is DM of -2, short range or le...

Re: Imperial Census: Favorite Skills
Every campaign I’ve been part of, Vacc Suit 0 and Gun Combat 0 were all but required for survival. Usually not the focus, but there would be times where those skills were life or death. Everyone needs to be able to contribute to the operation of a ship as well. Beyond that, a well rounded group is b...

Kulthea - great to see you here again, and glad to hear you’re starting a new campaign. Your POD campaign writeups were great.

Re: Spaceship Interior Walls
I'm looking over all the rules for armor whether structures, body armor, vehicle armor or ship armor as well as ship hull points doing compare and contrast. One question I need from people in the know for naval personnel or anyone who know ships. What are interior walls, as opposed to ship bulkhead...

Re: Spaceship Interior Walls
The whole cutlass thing has always been silly. A ranged weapon with limited or no recoil is very useful in Zero-G, regardless of how strong the walls are. Swinging swords in the hallway, less so.

Re: Aslan and Clan Society
Funny :D i have always viewed them sort of like Vikings. Close knit clans who raid and try and take territory from those weaker. That's MJD's take on it as well from what I can gather. From the POD Supplement Ship Encounters : If attacked, Uekh Etasieaheari will resist vigorously, but her crew have...

Re: Jumping away from gas giants
The -4 DM for jumping within 100 diameter still really sets the bar at rolling an 8. That’s standard difficulty. Is this something g that may actually be happening more in universe than previously realised? Probably, but still only in emergencies. The risks are too high. At easy difficulty and with...

Given that much of the OTU is trapped in Amber, I don’t know if this would be valuable or not.TrippyHippy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 10:03 amA mosquito, trapped in amber over millions of years, containing the genome of ancient reptiles that walked the earth aeons ago.

Re: Aliens of Charted Space Vol. 1 - It Is Here!
Well, I finally got a chance to start a first-pass read, and this kinda jumped out at me. On page 44 (Aslan section, Mustering Out, Other Benefits, in the entry for Clan Shares), under Corporation the text says "The Traveller owns an operating corporation. It has MCr500000 in assets per Clan Share ...

Re: Deepnight Revelation errors
Just noticed another one, although its likely far too late. In Ex Book 5, the two page primer on the Solomani expedition has been moved from page 4 to page 51, but the table of contents has not been updated, so all preceding listing are off by two pages.

Laser is only mentioned if extra protection is provided against laser weapons. The base value protects against all forms of attack.

Re: Large troop transports?
I’m thinking perhaps a Galoof mega-freighter? It has a HUGE cargo bay that should be relatively simple to convert into troop barracks and vehicle parking. An Amara cruiser filled with marine ops and/or orbital assault pods can also support a decent number of troops. Challenge with the Galoof is the...

Re: Deepnight Revelation errors
Expansion Book 4 p. 86 (87 of PDF) – “hanger space for 600 tons of craft”. The hull has 600 tons of hanger space, which accommodates 300 tons of craft. The cruiser has three of those hangars, for a grand total of 900 tons of craft. p. 75/76. Pretty sure the Tenzig Class Exploration Vessel doesn’t n...

Re: Viewing Traveller PDFs on an Amazon Fire HD tablet
I use an Ipad Pro 10.5 that is several years old, using the GoodReader Ap. It is great for most PDFs, but Mongoose 2nd Ed pages load slowly because of the background patterns on each page. For PDFs I use a lot, I crack the PDF to remove its protection, and then delete the background imagery with ado...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Feels like the whole RU thing is MgT 2e trying to incorporate some more advanced ideas from T5, maybe as a lead in to the Deepnight Revelation campaign (which incorporates some complicated meta-game abstractions) or the upcoming FFW material. Unfortunately T5 is filled with broken, conflicting and ...
