Actually that should be the case with all ships, but only ships listed as having pivotal thrusters can do that in the game. Even if that were the case, the engines are massive (visible on screen) while the thrusters are tiny (not visible). I think the RPG's ships' acceleration should be massively la...

They fire together, ie one hit roll, but do damage separately, so DR comes off each shot.

Well I wasn't going to buy it 'cos it was D20. But then I looked through the book and I was hooked. I've bought everything available so far. And then Season 1 and 2 on DVD. :)

We point out mistakes because we love the game and want it to be as good as humanly possible.

Keep 'em coming.

And don't let the NPCs do all the work. It's the players' game and their characters should be the stars of the story. If the NPCs take over, the players will start to wonder 'why are we here?'. In FT the PCS are accompanied by Alison Fernandez and Dave McCullough. Don't let them make any descions or...

Some specifics for Fiery Trial:

Don't do the recruitment process where the characters get beaten up. Players hate this.

Warn them in advance that they will be entering Descari space at T'lad'tha. Mine guys didn't half winge when they arrived and we greeted by Descari & Drazi ships unexpectedly.

Fiery Trial questions

I have started to run the first module of the Fiery Trial which is a great book, but it has raised a few questions. Why is Levana forbidden to human explorers? And is it just humans? Who are the Descari? And if they're xenophobic, why do they have a deal with the Drazi. Isn't 500 credits a rather sm...

Hmm but wouldn't they alter course, slow down etc when launching missiles and ships. Presumably there some kind of compensation propulsion system built in. Possibly also occurs when firing weapons, not everything is mass free..... Yes. Also acceleration wouldn't be constant because the overall mass...

I didn't realise CE did a screen. Was it any good?

Off the top of my head, I'd like to see the vehicle maneuvers chart (including combat maneuvers), and the a list weapon damages.

In space there is no friction, hence there is no limit to speed (excluding fuel, and the need to slow down).

Other fighters with listed maximum speeds are atmosphere-capable and have have maximum speeds within the atmosphere.

Have you been to Decipher's LotR boards? They are far and away the most nitpicky boards ever. If it isn't something Tolkein wrote in his books, letters, back of a napkin; then it isn't right!

Nope several descriptions on the back of the book are the same as the Core rulebook, word for word.

But yes, no major errors. I am being a little anal, and will shut up now.

I haven't noticed that the glossy pages in B5 pick up fingerprints. But the cover of 'The Coming of Shadows' picks them up really badly. While the non-glossy cover of 'The Fiery Trial' doesn't.

The back cover says the book includes 'A complete guide on creating characters...', 'Full rules for engaging in combat...' and '...all the vehicles present in the galaxy' :(

I have to admit that I haven't gone into the Starship rules in that much detail. But I have to agree with your issues. Cruisers on screen are definitely big and slow, while the fighters whiz around the outside. I did run a Starfury/Raider fighter combat in my first session, but I used more of an RPG...

Re: Errata...please?

And I second the notion for a errata PDF. We had a nice long error thread going on the old board, I hope somebody was paying attention to it. The error thread seems to have gone the way of Babylon 4. :) Seriously, the B5 book suffers far less than any of the other new RPGs I've bought recently. It ...

I disagree with multi-classing penalties. If a player wants to play an officer who has resigned and gone on to be a worker, it is unlikely he will ever gain levels in officer again. I don't think such a character should be penalised. However if a player is blantantly abusing the system, the GM shoul...
