I actually rather agree with the lack of "non lethal damage". There is no such thing in the real world. There's blows that propably won't kill you, and there's blows that very well might.

1st and 2nd edition only had battle magic and rune magic.

Sorcery was added in 3rd edition.

Im pretty sure the new version will have all three, given that the deluxe rulebook includes all three.

I seem to recall seeing comments that the Cult books would be rewritten. On the 'goose blog maybe? I wish people would stop using "complete" to mean "containing the same material RQ3 did". The old MRQ book was complete. It was a full RPG with everything you need to play. Yes, I'd have liked for it t...

yeah, I think the general consensus is that we'd much rather like it to be on the 18th than the 30th :)

If using the opposed roll combat from the deluxe rulebook and gamemasters guide, AP rarely come up in a fight. They do come up if an enemy deliberately targets the weapon though

The original 2 roll combat?

So Ive been re-reading my MRQ stuff, and it occured to me.. the original 2 roll combat (attacker rolls to hit, if he hits and defender reacts, you then make an opposed roll and refer to the charts) that was in the original rulebook and the combat example might not have been that bad an idea after al...

so has this whole "platoons of elite rifle men standing in a straight line gunning down tanks for several turns in a row" thing actually happened in a game yet ? What did the tank do in the meanwhile ? (also, it should be abundantly clear from the original game that Traveller has never been designed...

Characters are a lot more survivable. There's some mechanics that are a bit quirky or lacking testing But generally the game is streamlined very nicely. Things flow well, the magic systems has been overhauled to make them much more usable. MANY many options to customize the game. Fantastic Glorantha...

Re: rules question: improvement rolls

It says in the rules that skills can advance beyond 100%. It also says that to gain the highest possible increase you have to roll higher than your skill. How can you roll higher than 100%? Or do you have to automatically take the 1% increase? 96 - 100 is always a success! /Calle  Is that act...

Seems pretty reasonable

With the changed injury rules in the GM handbook, and spell resistance being an opposed roll, Im not sure if the cap is really doing any good anymore

Hm, a pity on Mercenary, since military scifi was one of the things I was hoping for.

How well would the core book work for a Hammers Slammers / Vietnam in Space / Aliens / Fifth Foreign Legion sorta game?
