CSC Weapons

I've noticed a few items in the CSC that seem to require some attention. The Light Assault Gun (LAG) on page 107. Light? The thing weighs 30kg! In CT it only weighed 4kg, what's with that? At most, I would make it 8kg. The 8mm Gauss Sniper Rifle on page 82. No stats are given for this weapon. My own...

I would love to see the level of detail in any 2300AD books equal to that of the Aliens: Colonial Marine Technical Manual. Unfortunately that was just military equipment, but the layout and level of detail was beautiful. The tech level seems to be about right for 2300AD, so maybe it could be used fo...

I'm rather doubtful about the utility of a sextant in the Imperium. However, I can conceive of an emergency navigation device with a starchart database. I don't think you'd point it out a window, more likely you'd take it out on the hull and set it to scan for matching data. This might take awhile t...

None of the ships in the Core Rulebook have hulls stronger than Crystal Iron. There is no reason that the windows in the ship have to be any weaker than the rest of the hull. I would say that the primary reason for having windows is psychological, not practical. If the windows in a ship can be made ...

I kind of liked Space: Above and Beyond for a military style campaign. The tech seems to be about right. Since it was a TV show, details would need to be fleshed out (TV shows are usually vague about such things.). But I think parts of it could be interesting.

Actually Transparent Aluminun is a real substance, it's called ALON commercially, and it's made of aluminum oxynitride. It's much more expensive than glass or polymers, so it's not in general use.

BTW - because of this, ships don't have windows, nor screen doors.
Well, how am I supposed to get a tan without a sunroof? And what'll keep the spacebugs out when I open the hatch to let in the breeze during Jump?

IMTU I treat all TL 10+ missles as being multi-mission capable. This includes a Lurker mode that allows them to act as improvised mines (Automatic attack on hostile vessels within short range), Active Sensor Homing, Ground Attack, and a few other mission specific settings.

I would think that anything bigger than about 60cm would be too big to use a quick patch on and would require something that takes at least a few minutes to apply. I look at the bulkhead patches a quick fix to prevent air loss while you provide first-aid and such to the compartment's occupants. The ...

I always make them take about 30 seconds longer than the PC's air supply. Seriously, since time is of the essence in these situations I would think that they should only take 1 major action to apply. IMTU they are peel-and-stick with a can of rapid dry spray foam to help fill in gaps (anot...

Remember that even if PC's don't have access to Combat Armour and Battle Dress in YTU, the police are still going to have weapons to take it out. This is because CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY THE LAW. There will be suits of Battle Dress and Combat Armour available on the black market, because these items ha...

There seem to be two camps on this thread: Those who think letting PC's have Battle Dress is the height of folly, and those who think it's not that big a problem. I personally have only had 1 character who had a suit of Battle Dress. It wasn't a mercenary campaign, it was obtained by putting togethe...

So you're saying that some types of present day, real ammo, don't exist in your world because you don't like it? These are current and actual ammunition types that are used now BECAUSE they penetrate armour much better than ball ammunition. And, yes they do make armour much less effective. And we we...
