Re: Scenario Ideas

Other possibilities: The players surprise the NPCs and attack. When their system does not register a hit they suspect cheating. Comms officer discovers NPCs are off line. If they can hack into the other meks they may find live weapons, if they can reactivate the training software it will automatical...

I'm interested, may be able to convince my brother as well.

This will be my first GenCon and looks to be interesting. Scheduled for a bunch of sculpting and terrain workshops, very little organized gaming.
I'm also looking forward to meeting the Mongoose staff and any forum members.

IIRC the traditional middle eastern eunuch was a volunteer and done pre or early puberty. They were know for their loyalty and trustworthiness. Because they were de balled prior to sexual maturity they lacked sexual motivation but also lacked the typical male aggressiveness. I would give them code o...

It does not have to be fashionable or cheaper.

Some people may physically reject implanted systems.
Others may refuse to use cybernetic systems on a philosophical/ religious basis.

While the wheelchair may be cheaper it's also less functional but still better than nothing.

While I'm not convinced that horror rules are needed for conventional combat they could be useful in a special ops/ espionage campaign. Resisting interrogation or morale effects when the enemy murders your family would be prime examples. Another OGL Horror mechanic that would work well in A:2089 is ...

Re: I remember

dice that eventually chipped so much you couldn't read them. AHH the good old days, when having something to roll your dice into, without chipping them, was just as important as dice themselves. I once had a four sided die that fractured as it hit the table, everyone had this shocked look as it cam...

I'm 38

When I started playing the dice only had two sides.
I'm not joking, my first D&D box set came with Chits, cardboard squares with numbers printed in them, instead of dice.

I still have a few things left on this project. Describing the physical effects in game terms. List of exposure levels from various nukes and other sources like fallout. Effectiveness of shielding will be done at same time. I will also try to find some data on radiation levels in space. Large scale ...

Sounds like another case of bad laws forcing personal beliefs on others. Fortunately such a law would quickly be squashed by the courts. Obscenity laws are hard to enforce and punishing a publisher for what a retailer does is unreasonable. IMHO this law is as poorly written as the Alabama state obsc...

Not going, wish I was.

Tried to clear things up a bit more and edited the original post to reflect the changes. one of the things I found disapointing about the rules was the extent of effort put into developing (fairly) realistic rules for combat, weaponry, etc. and the lifting the basic disease/poison rules from the D20...

Screwed and dead meat overlap in terms of RAD AtM. The overlap is intentional, in fact all ranges should have some. One problem in assigning damage is the tables I'm working from have non overlapping dose ranges but effects do overlap. For example 150-300 nausea in 20-70% death in 10%, dose 300-500...

Radiation: variant rules

I'm still working out the actual effect of radiation expressed in D20 stats but the system is ready for player input. The present rules for Radiation have one major fault - a high level or lucky character can avoid any damage. By using a fixed DC save throw taken periodically they ignore the cumulat...

I prefer a smaller scale for Mek Combat use. This would make them more affordable and better for game play. The 6-8" scale would have it's uses though. At 8" you could make a (slightly under scale) Large size Warmek for use with 30mm minis. They would be right for a ground scale of 1" = 2m. IMHO the...

1. Slight revision of the setting, so we are in the middle of actual Armageddon, rather than just a few ops here and there. I think this would interest a lot of people. A more detailed accounting of events leading to all out war and early battles would be nice. Giving players the option of fighting...

Now that I have a copy of cybernet I can make a few suggestions. The computer aspects from Cybernet could be transplanted into A:2089 with some moderate changes. Basic Cybergear, such as the lowest quality limbs and organs, would fit in A:2089. Cost should be high and the surgery DC increased. I wou...
