Re: So, what's with the supplements?
I don't work for Mongoose. My day job, if you can call it that, is writing non-fiction books with some other stuff such as TV or magazine work. Quite a lot of my working time is spent on Mongoose materials, but I'm a freelancer rather than a permanent fixture. That does mean I'm not party to some o...

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
Itharus, My understanding is that Mongoose is a smaller team than it once was (and keep in mind that even”big” game companies are cottage businesses in a cottage industry),and has made the decision to focus on quality over quantity. They also decided to incorporate supplementary material into campai...

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
What do you think you’re missing by not having the supplements? Are you specifically concerned about the career supplements? If so, don’t be. The different options look cool, but in the end you dont get anything different than you do with the core rulebook. If anything, you get a lot more failed adv...

Re: Traveller as a Spaceship Modeling Hobby
At least they are addressing that point, even if the answer is just handwavium that the food and supplies are stored elsewhere and don’t take up cargo space. Always bothered me when a capital ship has something along the lines of 1,000 crewmembers and less than 200 ton of cargo room. It still does b...

Re: Pirates: Revolution on Acrid
Will do. I’m going to try to put together a high level overview/sketch of the facility, that likely won’t conform exactly to the adventure as written, but will adhere to the spirit of it. Got a couple ideas for settlement layouts that I’m sure could be ripped to shreads for their flaws, but who care...

Re: Pirates: Revolution on Acrid
Good thoughts, MonkeyX, I appreciate it. I would have thought the whole point of being up the mountain would be because its less corrosive up there, but your approach is an interesting one.

Re: Pirates: Revolution on Acrid
Good catch - that's info on Acrid that isn't in Book 2 or the supplement. Didn't think to read one adventure to prep for another. Thanks.

Pirates: Revolution on Acrid
Questions for others who have run the campaign: My players really want to run this, and are working on collecting weapons for the revolutionairies. Acrid is described as 25,000 people, with 1,000 being “citizens”,an indetermindate number of security, and the rest the common workers. Mining operation...

Check your tonnage and cost on the armor.
4 points of crystaliron should be 30 tons and MCr7.2.

There is no continuing. The campaign is over. He won.

Re: Creating "new" characters
Does that mean the character would have been killed if the stats were a average? Combat is deadly in traveller no matter the stats. My Pirates campaign players got ambushed by Ogmha raiders while doing some repair work on a neighboring planet. One was down immediately, and three found themselves cha...

I "borrowed" it from another poster, either on this forum or COTI, so it's not my idea to hold on to.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
I was referring the Harrier captain who ran from the Sincerity and paid for it. You say he talked his way out of that with an Advocate skill. that's some smooth talking.

Re: Creating "new" characters
paltry, I agree. I understand that some people prefer point based character generation, but I really enjoy the traveller life-path process and think it gives the characters a good back story, which helps with role playing. I prefer games where the characters are very much above average, but the 3 di...

Re: Creating "new" characters
I would certainly allow two skills for connections. The original travellers had their connections, but obviously each traveler will have known and worked with many folks through their careers. The new traveller knows a couple of your existing group, and is therefore recommended into the group by the...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Paltrysum - that's some great roleplaying. Impressive they carried the day despite so many set backs. The whole getting in a serious firefight with imperial ships and then talking your way out of it after the fact is just a bit suspect, but, hey, the show must go on. For both of you, what did they d...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Nice! How’d they capture the ship and the entire crew? My travellers are very pro Imperium. Two are ex imperial navy and are role playing a sense of loyalty to the Empire although they are all in on rebuilding Drinax. Two others grew up on Drinax (one a noble) and have a hatred of Aslan for the dest...
