So what is the contract about? As it has already been signed, I see no harm in telling us about it. This is by no means correct, I'm afraid. We negotiated many deals while I was at Mongoose and more often than not the announcement timing is a focal part of the contract. You should know Matt loves t...

It's too much of a hot potato. I've read quite a few and as the series went on it became like reading soft porn. I recall as a teenager actually waiting impatiently for the next 'dirty' bit to stimulate my teenage 'urges'. Then I grew up. Utter tosh - you've never grown up, and everyone knows it! H...

I like to envision the Picts as being a cultural and racial mix of the North American Indian and the pre-Roman Celt/Gael-like tribes of the British Isles. I don't think that REH intended for them to perfectly mirror any one modern race, but rather to reflect the practices and appearance of both of ...

Now this I totally agree with. Some of the best RPG sessions I've ever been involved in have not had a single scrap in them - which is some accomplish for the old Mongoose Hall crew, I can tell you!

And in most cases a criminal one. And violence begets violence. And that doesn't change the facts of what I said one iota. It does. It makes violence the way to solve problems you don't want to teach your children. Or do really want that others solve their problems with you that way? My son plays r...

On the matter of nudity and sexualisation, I'm agreeing with Redbeard here. I know women with 11yo kids who have no problem sharing a bathroom; with the son brushing his teeth while mom gets out of the shower stark naked, looks for her clothes or trims her bikini zone. It's totally natural to them....

Wrong, because the sexualisation comes naturally in the teens (you cannot prevent it), but an early contact with violence may most likely make children violent. They learn that violence is the only way to solve problems. Not the only way, just the most effective and final one. And in most cases a c...

For starters, don't worry about it fitting in to other people's idea of the Hyborian Age - it's your game, not theirs. Secondly, Hyboria is medieval and does have castles, knights and the feudal system. The British names are different, but so what? Whilst you are right, being as this thread was sta...

My boy's 11. He's just getting to grip with the fact girls are potentially interesting, although clearly inferior to rugby. Sex however for us is the last taboo subject, and doesn't need to be crossed yet, so Conan can wait a while. Alex Ryder is just fine for him, because there's just death and mur...

IMO the real problem of Conan and kids is that racism, sexsim and exaggerated brutality is part of the world. Most other RPG (D&D, DSA/TDE, ...) have an equality of the genders and a different kind of racism (mostly against monstrous races likes orcs) and the brutality has been softened. Yeah, beca...

On the other, why play D&D when you could play WoW or any of the other online RPGs? They are a much, much more convenient way to play, from not needing to get the gang together to not even needing to have a GM. For a one because there's not much of R in the online RPG's. More like grinding money an...
