Keep in mind you are making the unfounded assumption that I did the naming. Also, keep in mind that the guidelines for naming an NPC might be different than those for naming PC's. I agree that characters that are likely to change in security clearance (such as PCs) should take a more conservative ap...

Pun Names Good... or an Abomination

Just curious as to what people prefer. To pun or not to pun. Personally I like pun names provided they have some basis in reality.

For example:

Tray-Y-TOR (Tray)
Peg-U-NOW (Peg)
Jen-I-KRG (Jen)
Tom-Y-GUN (Tom)
Laz-R-FDR (Laz)

Volunteer a Friend Day -- Originally "Volunteer Day", this day was renamed last year due to low participation. In short, Friend Computer keeps a job jar of bonus activities, most of which are benign (e.g., "hand out smiley Computer button during mid-meal"). Volunteers are assigned a random task fro...

Help Complete Friend Computer's Calendar

Can anyone think of some more Alpha Complex holidays? I want to fill out the calendar. Volunteer Day -- Service groups set up booths and try to pressure low clearance citizens into voluneering for dangerous assignments. Power Services Resource Conservation Day -- Most citizens forget about this holi...

Good point. Lead by example. If you can communicate a clear tone and game atmosphere most players will follow. I'm a big believer in torturing and tormenting Paranoia players... but in a fun happy way. Don't ask your players to smash their heads on the table in front of them... make them think of it...

Good stuff. You and I are thinking along similar lines. I pitched an adventure to Mongoose awhile back for "The League of Extraordinary Troubleshooters". I never did hear back from Mongoose so I guess it was a no go. The intro was... In recent years Troubleshooter casualties have begun to rise consi...

Tradition is that citizens are expected to engage 3 random citizens in spontaneous conversation at 6...

In addition to spoofing current holidays feel free to make up your own. Remember when there was just Mothers Day? Card sales octupled for one week. Then some marketing guru at Hallmark had an idea... if 1 holiday good, then 2 better. Before you know it we had... Mother's Day, Father's Day, Parent's ...

Needless to say the non-conformists are split into two types -- the true non-conformists who constantly push the envelope of what is considered treasonous, and the more judgmental Neo-non-conformi...

There is no hard and fast rule where Alpha Complex is. Some people picture it as entirely underground (think "A Boy and His Dog"), others picture it as a giant dome (think "Logan's Run"). I've always preferred the irony that "Outside" is really a very nice happy place, utopian even. Much nicer than ...

Both players are promoted but the Team Leader gets to decide who receives the spiffy official looking security card, and who gets the cheesy temporary card made from notebook paper and crayons.
