Re: [House Rule] Life support

I'd distribute the life support systems and connect them with a network of airducts. EXTREMELY inefficient design. That is why it isn't done that way on subs. But, that would explain the Cr2,000/month in repair bills for Trav staterooms. Even if empty. Condottiere, you just explained a Trav m...

Re: Colonization in Traveller

That's the retro I meant. ??? Cargo space DOESN'T need retrofitting to carry fuel bladders. Exploratory vessels won't be brimming with cargo space it doesn't need. If a J1 "exploratory" ship wants to explore widely , it'll NEED that cargo space. If for no other reason than to be ABLE to explore fur...

No retrofitting needed. The few "fittings" in the cargo hold would become standard.

Re: Colonization in Traveller

Back then, what were they giving up and look at what they had to work with? Vast land with ample resources for building, farming, and hunting. The average person now has a much better lifestyle fit for a king compared to the 19th century. How many people with their cushy and safe lives with indoor ...

[House Rule] Life support

I created this rule to allow for more creative and realistic ship design. Realistic only in the sense of not having life-support equipment tied down to rooms on a spaceship but put into engineering where they belong and spec'ed for how many people needed to be accommodated. Using this paradigm one c...

Correct. In the MGT Spinward Marches supp. they list internal fuel bladders for just that purpose. Stuck into a Free Trader cargo hold. Jump 1+1.

Once I knew which rule sets F33d was using it took me about three minutes t figure out exactly what he had done. Reducing cost through use of older, or surplus drives and components makes sense to me. Thanks, but that isn't what I did. I reduced prices by using NEW parts. (up to 30% reduction) If y...

Re: Colonization in Traveller

It would be completely situational. The first question that MUST be completely answered is: WHY is the planet looking to colonize a distance star system?

Once you really know all the answers to that. It becomes rather simple to determine the remainder.

Re: Revised Far Trader

First you apply the table on page 53 to work out the size and cost of a drive design at a particular Tech level. Then, if you're actually on a world with a higher TL than that, you apply the cost reduction factor for higher tech manufacturing. Simon Hibbs So, spec a TL 13 M-drive (at reduced tonnag...

Re: ship design and hard points

Any one out there perverting the 1 hard point per 100 dTon rule? Anyone care to explain why the ratio 100 dTons per 1 hard point exists? I get that it's abstracting stuff so you don't have to worry about energy requirements in ship design but, what else is there to it? Realistically it is a game ba...
