I think that in matters such as Strength or speed contest, both athletic skill and the characteristic should be used. For instance, you could state that in a armwrestling, the guy with the highest STR wins, but that STR must first be modified by an Athletic skill roll : Failure : apply stat/2 Succes...

I think I won't use the "Very High Skill" rule at all. I will certainly apply a mechanic allowing a character with skill above 100 to reduce his chance of success and his opponent's, maybe by a smaller amount, for instance 1/2 of the original handicap.

IMO rolling under your skill and gettting a critical if you roll 1/20th and a special if you rolled 1/5th is simpler, easier, and better. Rolling doubles is IMHO even better. I don't know why MRQ didn't choose to include this, maybe the designers felt that it would conjure comparisons with Unknown ...

The attack/parry matrix in the first draft-post-playtest version of the rules stated that a failed attack against a failed defense ended in a missed attack.
So that means the printed matrix is wrong while the draft one wasn't ?
Rather strange...

Re: Combat

If the attacker Fails, and the defender Succeeds, attack succeeds but 2xAP of parrying weapon/shield is deducted from damage. How come that failed attack succeeds if parry succeeds? This sounds crazy. In the last draft version I got from playtest (dated from february), there is a conflict between t...

New Sorcery has split Multispell in Target and Combine skill, which is fine, but it does not use the new Sandy Petersen's rules. A pity, since they fit Glorantha better than this form of ruleset. I'm also a big fan of Sandy Petersen's sorcery rules, but I think those rules are too difficult to lear...
