Nobody would want to pay 1000 sp to improve 1%.:| Why not? If your skill in Sword&Shield or Influence is 100%, then you are most likely a Rune Lord or equivalent in your community. You can still advance a little bit with monumental effort, and you are supposed to advance beyond 100% to be able to h...

Cows produce carbon dioxide too, by virtue of respiration, whilst their waste is usually covered with biodegrading bacteria which also produce carbon dioxide. Methane gas itself is flammable - when it burns, it oxidises to produce carbon dioxide (and water). Yeah, but that was not the sort of "prod...

...I am also hoping Matthew acquired a cow farm somewhere and thus the reason leather covers will be all over the place this year! It all boils down to environmental awareness. Paper can be recycled so that you do not subtract oxygen producing biomass from the biosphere. And what is the main cause ...

I suspect a lot of it just stems from how one was initiated into the hobby and what one's group did at the time. While I have never got into the fistful of dice thing myself, I've come to know plenty of RQ (or whatever) players who have. Which is perfectly acceptable. But is the 5-10 seconds per ro...

Very fast, very easy, and I don't see why maneuvers can't be bought in the same way. If you read carefully what was uncovered so far, and confirmed by the debate that took place on the other forum, you will notice that some manoeuvers let you alter the result of one of the dice. You can apply the m...

Because you roll a couple more dice, but it is way more fun to use these rules. But again, it is your choice.

You can do it if you wish. Loz suggested that you can easily skip the parts you do not like, so you can have fixed Strike Ranks (which makes wearing armour somehow risky) and you can skip the manoeuvers and roll damage and location at once. But frankly, I would not advise this.

Your local store has Chaosium products, but not Chaosium monographs . And it will have the ability to order our "third party" products starting from February: they are currently in Alliance's abvailable-for-preorder list. It will never have Chaosium monographs, except the ones that Chaosium upgrades...

Your analysis is possibly correct. Maybe the expectance (well, in fact it is exactly what Matt has stated) was that several efforts would be channeled towards RuneQuest and not BRP or OpenQuest. But the perspective I was talking about was exactly that of the customer, not of the publisher. You know ...

We can speculate that because a lot of the third party releases gravitated towards BRP, it naturally inhibited the open support of MRQ1. Sorry, what are you talking about? So far there have been some 10-15 third party books published with the RuneQuest logo - and I am not counting PDFs - and the in...

As the initiator of the discussion mentioned above on BRP Central, and the biggest contributor to the production of third party supplements, at least in PDF format, if you can trust the OBS statistics, I would like to add the following. a) The discussion linked above is mostly brainstorming, and con...

I hope that the good bits that were in the original "Companion" will stay. They were simple and useful, much better than previous iterations of RQ. Although they will need some adaptations.

I'm looking forward to it. Its going to bring the kind of dimension to Glorantha that we saw during the 90s Renaissance when there was a distinct frisson between what Tales of the Reaching Moon was doing and AH's work when Ken Rolston was developing Gloranthan supplements. Ah, the RuneQuest Renaiss...

I discovered too late that there was another code for the UK. But if you order from Leisure Games you should be able to save the same amount on shipping. They have copies of the game now. Lulu is recommended for US customers only.

The answer should be yes, instead. Once you have released something under an open license, you cannot "pull" it unless the licensee breaks the license somehow. The OGL clearly states its benefits are "Irrevocable". WotC tried to make the terms for 4e license revocable with a prior notice, and third ...

all this does is mean that 3rd party can still provide compatible material via the other brands, as you say. Ultimately, what is the difference? Something called brand recognition, perhaps? Please remember that all this debate, and the whole RuneQuest line, stems from the fact that Issaries redeeme...

I must admit that I am not super happy with the MRQ chargen system, but the background/occupation distinction does not sound so awful to me.
