I must say I wasn't impressed with Sandy's rules. Like everything by mr. Petersen his sorcery is very rule driven, and gamesy, in feel. What I mean, is that they don't seem to model Gloranthan reality very well, but rather are a RQ game mechanics system built with game balance in mind. When you pos...

Hmm, I cannot see any actual reference to sacrificing POW to gain any individual spells in the preview. I think the idea is that you lose POW on initiation rituals and on acquiring special powers (feats?), not to get each spell. This also explains the outrageous prices. This system works fine and al...

But to get there was so badly thought out. Most of my Sorcerors were NPCs who had, like, 30 to 40 years of previous experience, and who cheated (a bit Smile ) on the familiar rules, by creating them from already-bound Magic Spirits. Ludicrous. My best sorcerer made a familiar out of an already-boun...

I have not read any of the playtest drafts, so I might be badly mistaken, but aren't the damage thresholds for hit locations supposed to apply to damage dealt in one blow? The idea behind this is to avoid HP bookkeeping altogether: either it incapacitates you, or you just do not write it down. If t...

[ Ok. I was remembering some rapier fencing articles in an old Tradetalk. Yep. Tradetalk #2. The article was written by the Jose Ramos shortly before he started the Safelster PBEM campaign I mentioned before. It was a very popular article. To be honest, I do not agree very much on the Safelster=Ren...

Re: Armour values

Warhammers, rapiers and platemail don't really have a place on Glorantha, especially in the second age. It would be great to see references to normal equipment being leather armour, spears, bows and slings, at least for the common soldier & warrior. Dwarfs definitely use Warhammers and Plate Mail i...

I still like the idea of using RQ for Renaissance Italy -- the combat rules should permit the thrust and parry of duelling, while the special abilities could easily be tweaked to allow for social combat and the like. And what a cast of NPCs! Da Vinci, Macchiavelli, Cesare annd Lucrezia Borgia, Card...
