Wow. I submit that the differences between RQ3 and MRQ are of a magnitude not very different from the differences between RQ3 and RQ2. Wow. I couldn't disagree with you more (and I was playing during the transition to RQ3). If you consider the defining mechanics of RuneQuest to only be Skill% based...

How lethal are the new rules? Does a dagger represent a lethal threat? I guess it could be lethal -- remember, you get 2 or more actions per round in MQ. So, you attack once with the dagger, attack a second time, then you quickly switch the dagger to your off-hand to get the bonus action and attack...

I am going to... Wait for my pre-order of Second Age and first two rulebooks to appear. The wait for the RuneQuest Monster Manual to appear and see if it's worth buying. My thoughts are no right now, but I'll wait and see. Then wait for Legendary Heroes to appear and see if it's worth buying. Again ...

Oooh opposed skills! With the halving rule, you might just be able to get answer through his high resistance!

Re: MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finlan

Does MQ allow for spell resistance? Since there's no Resistance table, it can't be POW vs. POW -- is it RuneCasting vs. Resillience? (which in itself seems frought with problems). Specific spells pells my be resisted with either Resilience, Persistance, or Dodge (the spell specifies which skill is ...

The idea seems like a first draft and not a fully thought out idea, simple things like would you be able to integrate opposing runes (i.e. light and dark) are not answered. To be fair, that sounds like a presumption, rather than a fully thought out idea. There is no reasojn you cannot integrate bot...

Re: MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finlan

Infact the three runes a worshipper of the Storm God needs to cast the cult spells shown are Stasis?, Mastery and Chaos?? I think you may have found one of the downsides of MQ -- the Storm King isn't Orlanth from Glorantha, and Chaos is probably more representative of randomness in nature over the ...

After a year of GMing 'Ernest Bornine's" I came up with the unusually cruel method -- roll best 3 of 4 dice 6 times and assign, but your lowest stat can't be CHA...

Yeah, I'm waiting to see the reaction from the "Old Guard" when some non-Mongoose RQ products hit the shelves via the OGL and RQ Trademark License. "The Slayers Guide to Ducks," for instance. Or "The Quintessential Humakti Runelord" :) I dont think you can OGL a cult guide. As for Ducks, there were...

I had all these wyrms footnotes but I didnt enjoy them very much. I bought them I think 1987 or so from an old friend of mine (he was not interested in roleplaying anymore), because I thought they have many cool rule stuff for RQ3 in it. But that was not true. Their production quality have been ver...

Then RuneQuest may not be the game for you. That's pretty pretentious of you, don't you think? Possibly sarcastic, but not pretentions. You remark about highly skilled guards was an eyebrow raiser, given how deadly RQ can be. I own a PDF-based game publishing company, and I have games sitting aroun...

Well, I am maybe a Glorantha noob. This could be true. But the more the Gloranthaphiles do contribute the better. What I wanted to say is that with 2nd age Glorantha, there will be a lot of other people (non-Gloranthaphiles) attracted, because they are Mongoosophiles. I regret that I once sold Wyrm...

I bet this "old guard" will probably not be the major buyer of Glorantha 2nd age. The majority of buyer will be Mongoose fans which either buy basically everything from Mongoose or have acquired [MQ] basic rules before. You must be a Glorantha n00b! Gloranthaphiles are an obsessive bunch*, and we l...

As the GM, you can adjudicate that however you'd like. "Whadda ya mean you want to advance in Sneak? You haven't done one, single sneaky thing since the last time you advanced in Sneak! I don't think that's going to work. Pick another one." Is that in the official rules, or are you house-ruling tha...

I'm tiring of the whole "halving skills" debate, and all the sub-debates like this one anyway. It's not doing any of us any good trying to ram opposing points of view down opposing throats. I suspect that after a while, there will be lots of house rules and possibly a new "official" rule that repla...

No 'random element' involved with determining Initiative Order. I really liked that MRQ added a random roll to Strike Ranks. This is a great example of where the MQ rules could be much better. I much prefer fixed SRs -- it's makes those spear-wielding trollkin feared. But, given good modern design ...

I get bored sneaking circles around the same dumbwitted guards I've been sneaking circles around for years. I lose the joy of continually defeating similar milktoast combatants fight after fight. Then RuneQuest may not be the game for you. Without an exponential XP scale that's derived from killing...

But in real-life terms, I would imagine that person to be well beyond any capacity for constructive action. That's what the general hit points helped to simulate.
