Re: Battle of the River PLate Box Set Previewed

Am I the only one that can't see this preview? :? All I get is an article about Judge Dredd miniatures. The latest VaS article on there is about HMS Exeter.

Re: Torpedoes

Apparently reloading the torpedo tubes was a bit of an embuggerance and couldn't be done in action. A bit like some modern missile systems, like the TOW launcher on the US Bradley IFV. If you've played any naval games like Enigma: Rising Tide or Battlestations: Midway you've probably been misled by ...

Re: First New Victory at Sea Ships Available

That doesn't seem very big. I must have been overestimating the size of the smaller scale naval models I've seen.

What's the price going to be like for the larger capital ships?

Re: First New Victory at Sea Ships Available

1/1800 scale? Surely that's a bit... large? When VaS first came along people thought the 1/2400 models from GHQ were bit on the big side and most planned to play at 1/3000. Are these official models going to be mandatory for tournaments and events and stuff? I've been thinking about VaS lately - hen...

Another of our heroes gone. Only 60 years old. Very sad. I do feel for those people who just can't cope with drugs. One taste and hooked for life. Just not fair.

The only thing I want from the new "ACtA" is fidelity to the setting. If it was, by some miracle, B5 again, I'd want to see weapons and capabilities that match the setting. That can then be balanced with points costs.

Oh, and drop FAPs, it just doesn't work in practice. Like communism.

What's wrong with carriers in B5? Fighters are a major force in space combat, why wouldn't anyone have ships dedicated to their transport and support? Just because some capital warships seemed to have fighters aboard is no reason to assume there'd be no carriers.

What maps are those? Every map I've ever seen was drawn by someone who knows the difference between the British Isles and Europe.

I use GW slotless slottabases. Drill three holes, push three wires through. Fix them in with putty or whatever you like to use. Clip the fighter's pegs off the bottom and drill holes into the fighter. Glue the fighters to the wires. Three-fighter flights on bases that are similar in size to the hex ...

GHQ

Anyone know if GHQ is planning to do new modern ship models like the British Type 45 destroyers?

Also, does anyone know anything about their own rules system, Micronauts and Micro-Armor?

Yeah, which is pronounced Humm-Vee, since the American forces can't cope with an acronym they can't actually say.

Thankfully, we British just use Land Rovers. Landie is a lot easier than making sense of that string of letters...

It's only a Hummer if you're a civvie. Military (I.e. not worthless) version is called the Humm-Vee.
