Re: Noble Armada News
Come to think of it. We never did play Vau vs anyone with range. So I guess I need to set up some games of Vau vs Hawkwood or Li Halan. Since their range is limited. But all I need to do is boost their shields and that SHOULD give me enough cover until I can blow them to TINY TINY TINY pieces :) Va...

Re: Attacking a cloaked vessel.
Scenario: My ship is cloaked my son fires 4 photons and 2 hit. For the stealth trait, do i roll to negate the single to hit roll hit or do i have to roll against each of the 8hits from the multihit trait. I would think this would work just like shooting down the incoming AD of a drone or plasma, we...

Re: So what about Vau
(it's intentional btw that the explorer doesn't have devastating trait right?) I am afraid so :) Ok. I have habit of same name=same traits. I would have named the weapon "light meson blast" or something similar then to further clearance. Still, for all their downsides, Vau players will be living fo...

Re: Noble Armada News
The Vau are certainly intended to be tough, lethal and expensive with a few tiny weaknesses - as someone said, the Vorlons of the Fading Suns universe. Reminds me of Shadows actually. Quantum leap gives them shadow-like manouverability and vorlons were very limited fire-arc wise. Vau have turret ar...

So what about Vau
Anybody else played with these yet? We almost finished one game with them yesterday(ran out of time so will finish it later). I think I found new fleet to play with ;) So far noted that apart from explorers the vau seem to move with speed and grace of a tortoise. Unless of course you use the quantum...

Re: Star Fleet Rulebook PDF
There is a danger of confusion over which set of rules are official and which are not. Player A turns up at a tournament..he has the printed rulebook only. Player B turns up and he has a printed out copy of the PDF with the added rules. Right there you have grounds for conflict and disagreement. At...

Re: Some questions with Stellar Debris
Thats the way I read it. Once you are caught, unless you are close enough to the edge that a Tractor beam can get you out you are going down. Unless, you declare a Maximum War Now Special Action. Huh. Wonder if that's omission. I don't see how that would really add to the game. 30" radius(60" diame...

Re: Couple of quick questions from my first game
If we ever see the Early Years explored in the game system, Going to cause some serious suspension of disbelief issues if there's non-warpspeed and warpspeed ships on board...Relative speeds are such that either you have VERY big board with warpspeed ships zigzagging 100"+ inch per turn or the non-...

Re: Noble Armada News
Think we ran into an interesting "problem" for vau. Shielded fighters with nasty guns can be real pain in the ass... They have one gun that's sorta overkill to use against fighters. But gatling lasers don't have burn out right? And top of that according to rules you need to cover as many fighters as...

Re: Couple of quick questions from my first game
How long is one turn supposed to represent? The speed of light is about 299,972 km/s, and at that speed light takes about 328 minutes to go from the Sun to Pluto. A ship doing warp 3, i.e. 27 x light speed, would do the same journey in about 12 minutes. So if a turn is measured in minutes then the ...

then they are not adrift, they are becalmed, or stationary :-) Well. They are moving forward but since they aren't on their on power they aren't moving at 100x lightspeed so appear stationary ;) Remember even inch movement is HUGE distance covered in space...These things move(well according to offi...

Re: Fleets of the Fadin Suns.... is this for real? Only 46 p
There is a little artwork, but we concentrated on packing in cool rules, background on the new fleets and oodles of new models! I take it this is a stop gap until the book is released properly then with fancy artwork and Photo's then. Then again...More pages=higher price generally. 8$ for 46$ might...

Re: Couple of quick questions from my first game
well, it's just wording thing, but if adrift, they make a compulasry forward movement, they don't "move" under power. At least thats how I Interpret it, and it makes more sense. Well. I don't see any mention of forward moving in SF rules(unlike NA where it's clearly said half the speed. Or did I mi...

Re: Couple of quick questions from my first game
1) When limited to using "phasers only" or "one weapon system" by power drain or other cause, can you still use Anti-drones and/or tractor beams in defensive fire against incoming drones? [my feeling was you could, as they are ship traits not weapons listed on the weapons section of the ship. but t...

Re: Noble Armada News
Whee. Vau sure look powerfull. Though albeit with price tag to boot ;) Especially destroyer with firepower boosting selection is mean. 6AD of accurate multihit 2d6 devastating? With a frigging 24" turret range? Holy smokey. These things will simply aim to run circles around enemy trying to maintain ...

Bad idea to even say that much. If there's even one box shortage there all hell will break loose.Ben2 wrote:Yeah, hence offering to grab a squadron if there are some at Mongoose towers (but not sufficient stock to start sending everything out).

Well all they have to do is get their act together and we paying customers will stop complaining. I've earned the right to whine a bit, what with having spent over $600USD on the game. I can live with a pre-order being a bit slow to ship, but when I order something that is listed as "in stock", I k...

Re: Mouretsu Pirates: Traveller Campaign?
More of a Starship Troupers, then? If they have a good agent, its all good. That's one *expensive* act, though. Ships are not cheap to run. Well. The ships seems mostly to be old ones so mortages are already paid presumably. Originally they started as additional forces against the Imperium during i...
