Re: Problems?

but it again backs up the view that SC cares about the ADB guys but not for his new players, dissapointing, but such is life. I'm not ordering the Gorn now, I'll buy another fleet for Dystopian wars instead +1. Starting to look more and more like ACTASF doesn't have much of future. So might just as...

Re: Skills specialistaion - what is the point?

now, with 2330's list... since every skill/attack roll is "Ability Mod" + "Level of Pertinent Skill(specialty)" + 2d6, why would I put skill levels into specialties when I can put them into (general) and have them count for ALL of the specialties? Because Mongoose decided there is no such thing as ...

Re: Problems?

I'm sorry Jean, but this is advice you should be giving Steve, this isn't his first post along similar lines. +1. I hope Steve thinks bit harder on what he types as even if they aren't intended to look as worrying they have by the virtue of who's posting quite a strong potential for damaging the ga...

Re: Problems?

I just went looking for the article again and cant find it. So im guessing it was someone with wishful thinking that wrote it. Well there is this: http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/08/18/is-babylon-5-set-to-return-in-some-form/ But: a) that says JMS was the guy trying to acquire rights b) almost year after...

Re: Problems?

I heard a while back the walter koenig was making a move to buy all rights to B5 since the current owners have no interest in it at all. Maybe if this does come to pass he might be a bit more open minded to licensing arrangements. Whee. Guy must be frigging rich and dead set on returning to charact...

Re: Problems?

to be fair, isn't THAT bad, but still gives a bad impression. Thing is though this isn't isolated case...And as far as I understand if Steve decides he could pull the plug from Mongoose. Even if he has no real intention of doing that this sort of thing shakes the foundation a bit gnawing basic FAIT...

Re: Problems?

Hmm. Sure doesn't look that promising. Game has barely got off and looks like there's already becoming bit of friction between them. This isn't even first case.

Makes me bit weary of investing to the game yet. Maybe stick with the noble armada.

Re: The Invasion Begins: an unoffical Andromedan discussion

but with the caveat that ACTA does not have any restricitons on ships selected for games..... Whilst I would normally agree with that, this is one area I would disagree. The disdev thing always felt far more about technical limits (to many disdev device armed vessels cause rifts in space to open up...

Re: Noble Armada News

Heck none of their ships could get through pretty much any ship without boosting if multi hit was AFTER substracting shields. Explorers couldn't dent any ship even WITH boost ;) (well except vuldrok since they don't have shields). That's where the 0,875 result came from. :-) Well I ain't official s...

Re: Musings on plasma

Ok - you meant 10 out of 14 AD got shot down by 10 phasers, rather than 10 out of 14 torpedos, that was what threw me. Yikes. 14 torpedoes :D That would be pretty brutal! Nah he was talking about AD's. On bit of OOT definitely fell in love with the wolverine during the game. They have very generous...

Re: Noble Armada News

Hmm... Then I need to ask you when you use shields: roll AD, subtract shields, apply multihit OR roll AD, apply multihit, subtract shields? As far as I understand you roll one attack(ie one line from the ship sheet) and then substract shields. Would make non-multihit d6+ without burnouts utterly us...

Re: Noble Armada News

You forgot to subtract Shields - Vau weapons haven't got the Burn-out trait. Since shield values are changing per ship and could be altered by criticals etc didn't figure to add them. Easy enough to calculate them yourself. I'm just interested in raw output pre-shield. Against Hull 5 and Shields 4 ...

eh 6AD, 4+ to hit=3 hits. Those each are 2d6=3x2d6=6d6.

Destroyer ain't THAT good ;)

Re: Musings on plasma

i had no issues with plasma... till Tnaeva shot down ten of fourteen torpedo's... with ten phasers... grrr They were all 1AD torps presumably? Fs a range 9-12 or S at 12-16? 4AD plasmax2 + 2AD plasmax3 I had AD4 ph-1 bank which negated first AD4 plasma. AD2 F/P ph-1 negated one AD2 plasma. AD2 F/S ...

Re: Noble Armada News

It depends how you look at it. From the game's point of view Vau may be like Shadows. But from the setting's perspective the are typical super-advanced, mysterious, "we know better, and you still got much to learn" aliens. Just like Vorlons from the series. ;-) Well I haven't yet looked at fluff bu...

Well that round of shooting was below average. With the amount of plasma and amount of defences I used average damage should have been 21. You did 10...

Re: Looking for players to test play-by-email.

Just finished my first game of CTA SFU PBeM... wow, lots of letters very fun and close game between a federation fast cruiser fleet and a Gorn destroyer fleet. To keep it moving the game has a few changes to the standard rules, but was good fun, and I think gave a reasonably good representation of ...

Re: Attacking a cloaked vessel.

And unless you are within 1-2 points from treshold it's pretty much irrelevant. Long run both ways result in same result. Myself I prefer the roll 8 times simply 'cause it evens out variance and results in less odd freak dice rolls turning game upside down but long run precise same damage result. Y...

Re: Star Fleet Rulebook PDF

The solution is to include the scout rules for the tournament in the tournament pack. Everyone taking part in the tournament will have downloaded the tournament pack. Simples. Eh. Doubtful tournament organisers can do that legally. Might be asking for trouble there. You don't go around printing rul...

Re: Attacking a cloaked vessel.

Highly relevant for multihit 4s going through shields and grossly different enough to be well within the range of dice being thrown. If a photon hits and goes through the shields, if you use stealth to take out the AD the chance of escaping any internal damage is 83% (one roll probability), if you ...
