Re: The Hobbit weekend december the 16th
Perhaps its because up to this point the halflings weren't part of the middle earth lore, all of the other rings were made for one of the races, dwarves had 7, humans had 9 the elves had 3 and sauron made the master ring so perhaps his ring could control any of the human, elvish and dwarvish races ...

Re: Large ships and asteroid belts discussion
Bill: I'm not Matthew, but here is the pertinent rule: If attacked while within an asteroid field , a ship will gain the Stealth 5+ trait (or a +2 bonus to Stealth rolls, if it already possesses the trait), whether attacked from within the field or outside, as the asteroids interfere with precise t...

[quote="msprange] Oh, and for losing files - that is actually one of the cool things about digital books. Dropped my Kindle in the bath a few months ago (don't ask). If it had been a regular book, that would have been ruined. However, when I got my new Kindle, it download everything the old one did,...

2) Hadn't thought of the operating cost of the larger ship, nor of the larger cargo it requires. So that'll probably put a damper on my players entrepreneurial spirits :) My guess is that they'll try this first session and will dive headfirst into bankruptcy. And then steal the ship and start becom...

Re: Any word on Cloaked Romulans?
Hi guys, I'm quite new around here, but wouldn't it work just as well if you simply take left over ship (if any) paint them black with some stars on it. Maybe you slightly highlight some of the angle on it to give it a silhouette. After all, isn't empty space all you should be looking at really. Ju...

Re: KC9R Dreadnought
I will bet you dollars to donuts, most people will squel over a 40 to 50 USD model. Well PP seems to be doing okay with about 100£ models...As far as I know they sell pretty well. Albeit they are bigger models but heck they are resin models rather than metal. Maybe Mongoose gets their resin product...

Re: Star Fleet Tactical Challenges Tournament - Jan 12th
Well as I understand it it just means all lists must be from feds/klingons/whatever race you wish. Not so that in game 1 you have feds, in game 2 klingons, game 3 roms etc.lastbesthope wrote:
I still don't get the fleet list thing, butu since I'm unlikely to be there it prob doesn't matter.

Re: News on Samurai of Legend
Saw your post on Facebook last night Matthew. Is Samurai still going on sale today? It is. It is just being tweaked at the moment (actually, Will decided he was not happy with some of the art, so he is changing some pictures and adding more - will look much better after that), but I expect it to go...

Re: New Player with some questions
1. Photons, shoot them whenever you can, +1 for this. The shield penetrating are ones you are looking at. Especially when facing forward shields of klingons where shield hits are practically wasted hits. 3. Just because you've shot all your photons does not mean your ships are out of the fight. The...

Re: Redoing Psionics
Another thought that came up regarding new stat generating. Apart from simply tasks becoming simpler because average DM goes from +0 to +1 this will also lead to increased skill levels. GM's would need to up the difficult tasks artificially by about 2-3 levels...

Re: Online Tabletop RPGs
Ah, but the "eye candy" is the point. The user interface is the dice, cards, tokens, and pieces you see in front of you, just like a real board game. What could be more intuituve than picking up the dice, rolling them, and reading the result, just like you would with your hand? So flower instead of...

2. Stats in general, but Psi in particular - don't roll on 2d6; roll on 1d6+6 for all stats, including Psi. Psi can also be used, much like raw Str, raw Dex and so on, to represent a character's psionic intuition and resistance to psionic intrusion if a non-Telepathic psion. Why such a big boost to...

Re: Online Tabletop RPGs
Looks bit...Clumsy. Generally it's not smartest idea to try to recreate real tabletop to computer. User interface varies so generally that will lead to clumsy and slow. UI should be designed to utilise computer so that effect would be same but faster, more intuitive. Less eye candy perhaps but faste...

Hello: I know ACTA:B5 has gone the way of the Dodo and that questions like this have been brought up before, but does anyone have a good source of materials (books, miniatures, counters, etc) for this game? I really enjoy the B5 universe. I have the old B5 Wars game (but no miniatures) and have nev...

Re: Spam/advert junk threads
I can't understand why people do this, all it does is generate anger at whoever is doing it/the products advertised. Because it generates something more than anger. Specifically: Money. You think they wouldn't do it if it wouldn't actually give money? It doesn't have to have high chance of success ...

Re: Spam/advert junk threads
We do appreciate the work mods do. You really have you work cut out for you - spammers are back in force again today. Yes. It's not fun work, mostly repeative spam smashing when there's not that much viable ways to prevent it(automatic methods are annoying in that generally computers can get around...

It IS useful because it means I can check there for reports. I DO get automatic messages when someone posts there because I subscribe to that thread. And when a SPAM post arrives it is obvious if you see it. You want to pay me as a full time job to sit here and read EVERY thread and post looking fo...

Re: Spam/advert junk threads
Have they turned off some anti-spam option in the forum software?!? This is one of the worst spam attacks I've seen in an active forum for a long time. As for reporting it, you just need to look at the 'new posts' to get pages of them. Wish there was such feature ;) This ain't only forum I read whe...

To report spammers you go post here: http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35265 AKA "The best way to report SPAM threads" Not sure how useful thread that is frankly. Mods probably don't get automatic message when message comes there. And when spammer arrives here it's pretty blin...
