I also thought it odd that they would have an entire book just for Cimmeria. Other than Conan being from there, there isn't anything very exciting or interesting about it. I'm all for doing more "regional" regional sourcebooks - one that contained information on Cimmeria, Asgard, and Vanaheim all to...

True magic is very rare in my game, but when it does show up, it is horrific! I have several of these "fake" magicians in my game also. Individuals who just take advantage of the people's primal fear of sorcery, but have no real power themselves - just a few parlor tricks. It is the true sorceror's ...

Better lucky than good, I guess!

I personally think that "Across the Thunder River" is the strongest supplement book in the game. But, as Vincent said, it depends on where you want to set your game. Mine tends to be Aquilonia/Pict frontier heavy, hence my preference for the Thunder River book...

As much as I like the hardcovers, anything less than 128 should be softcover, to keep cost down as much as possible.

I love these regional sourcebooks - Keep them coming Mongoose!

Thanks for the input! I'll check out the Solomon Kane rulebook when it arrives and see if I think the main rulebook would help. As I've never tried transplanting game systems and converting material, I'll probably end up picking it up. Thanks again.

I've been thinking of trying a different set of rules with Conan for a while now. I've also just ordered the Solomon Kane book from Amazon. If I wanted to try using Savage World with Conan, what other books would you all recommend? Is there a book of basic rules or would the Solomon Kane book be eno...

I've been a REH Conan fan for years, and only just purchased the REH Soloman Kane collection of stories. I'm a little ashamed it took me this long to give it a try. I'm only a few stories in thus far, but they've been great! I wasn't aware of the RPG - I'll definately look into it!

I actually like the late Robert Jordan Conan stories. They are some fo the best Conan pastiche that is out there. When compared with REH, nothing is going to measure up, but they are fun sword and sorcery stories. When reading the Conan pastiche, it has always helped me to seperate REH's Conan from ...

Most of the Conan pastiche is pretty bad. The stories by the late Robert Jordan are some of the better ones, in my opinion. All six stories were collected in "The Conan Chronicles" and "The Further Chronicles of Conan". Last I knew, you could get both books at Amazon for, like, $20. Again, they aren...

Howard did refer to "lost races" a lot in his works. You could make a dwarf or elf like lost civilization in an isolate mountain range or deep forest where even the Picts fear to tread. They would, of course, have to be a very dark, twisted race, full of mystery and practicers of vile sorcery. You c...

Yes, I agree, the product is fantastic and worth the wait. I just wonder how a company seems to always be late with their releases. The last few D&D campaigns that I ran, I made them very low magic. In the world that we created, magic items were exceptionally rare, and high level magic users also very rare. I forget what we called it, but there was a Magic Users Guild/Governing body that only allowed 1 10th level magic user in e...
