Re: High guard game looking for players.

Hehe would I be right in thinking that you'd want to be away from me for one thread? :P If not, Engineer who thinks that officers are a waste of space to be tolerated and satisfied as quickly as possible so they'll leave his engines alone? And anyone messing with "his" ship is gonna PAY... (officers...

Re: Morale Rules

In my mind, a player should be pulling their ships out as best they can in any case - laying smoke from the smaller ships to cover their withdrawal and reforming the fleet to cover any gaps... it shouldn't really be the case that suddenly a ship turns tail and runs - doing so would not only risk its...

Re: Dissapointed in the lack of Hype for the release ACTA:SF

Adrian: I have some Ivory and Offwhite vallejo paints standing by (I originally bought them for the 2400 minis) as well as various oranges, including the flourescent orange (the only time I've every found a use for it, except possibly fires) for the forward nacelle domes the ones on the pics look to...

Re: Collisions

This might be worth doing sooner rather than later, since destroyers used to regularly ram subs that made torpedo attacks only short distances from them... a sub needs time to submerge and so a destroyer would often charge them quickly in the hope that, if they couldn't ram, they'd be able to drop s...

Re: Star Fleet Advanced Rules Preview

Remember you are reading playtest rules :) However, no, under the current rules a decloaking ship _only_ gets that 'free' 6" move. It no longer moves normally. And no, there are no modifiers to penetrate cloaks (yet). Hmm... that's actually a shame, I'd have liked to have seen them get a chance to ...

James: Please don't mention that game around me - it just raises my blood pressure, thinking about that "console game on paper" that D&D has deteriorated into... :( Quick question regarding Vargr, were they raised to sentience by the ancients, or were they raised and have their DNA spliced with huma...

Re: Star Fleet Advanced Rules Preview

Wouldn't armour be more logical if it ignored the first X hits from each ship, since it'd be all over the hull and (one would presume), randomly weaving/rolling just enough to stop multiple ships from pinpointing the exact same point on the hull? Or does that make the armour too strong? I'd forgotte...

Re: Expert Combat Programs

Yeah - still crude, but at least simple! Always, the best rules are often the more simple... MgT was the first rule set change for me in over 20 years. With a tendency (okay, its a full-blown affliction) to over-analyze, I really got inspired and into making house rules for all kinds of things*. Re...

Re: Star Fleet Advanced Rules Preview

Are there similar modifiers to break Stealth as there are in B5, e.g. bonus or penalty for range, bonus if someone else has already hit?. The idea of "shotgunning" space is silly. Space is big , especially at the sort of ranges involved in tactical warp combat. Without a weapons lock, the chances o...

What's the Energy Bleed trait? Representing the plasma's loss of warhead strength? Re: Shot-spotting aircraft - why removed from OoB?

I think they're still "there" but were removed to avoid clutter since the fighters were a bit more common in OoB... that was my take on it when I read the two books, anyhow.

Re: Star Fleet Advanced Rules Preview

Matt: any chance you can explain this, since I'm confused... The three up front Phaser-1s are nice enough (compared to the four the Heavy cruiser will always be able to get on you, or six if it gets you dead in-between firing lanes), but the phaser-2s will always be relegated to opportunity fire or ...

Re: Expert Combat Programs

I could even see where SOC-based skill programs would benefit, as the program gives the character hints about how to handle social situations. I think any skill can be slotted, but only the INT and EDU aspects would be accessible - the protocol information you just described would be an INT or EDU ...

Re: Measurement

As I understand it... A d-ton (dton, dt) is the volume a metric ton of hydrogen would occupy (under normal atmospheric pressure and gravity). It measures 1.5m x 1.5m x 3m roughly. As for how much it actually weighs, I'm not sure, someone else will have to help you there. Edit: also, all cargos liste...

Mind you - in the future, my warcry as a Kzinti player will be "DINNER TIME!!! Come and get it!!!"
