Re: Star Fleet's Finest 2013 Tournament - June 15th

The minimum ship cost speeds play up, and stops people doing things like taking wolfpacks of Gorn Battle Destroyers or Klingon E4s (I've only got five, I'm not that bad).

It'll be an interesting exercise in fleet design.

I'd find one useful, what program are you using to create it?

Good, will we be getting the Klingon C5 Fast Dreadnought before the next tournament?

Re: Reality Check ship costs for update 1 (and 2)

Agreed.

Variant drones should be at most an optional rule used by people who want to fight more complex games that involve tracking which drone racks are loaded with which drones.

And not used in tournaments.

Re: [ACTA:SF] Ship stats

Dropping drones in favour of either additional rear or 360 phasers would be an interesting idea.

A single phaser-1 or a pair of phaser-3s might be the way to do it.

I've been chewing over a different take on the Romulan Eagle ships to make them more threatening that runs along similar lines.

Re: Interseting new move in Fed ship design on the ADB forum

I'm liking the saucer section in general and the layout of the phaser nubbins, but I'd also agree that the staggered double engines look a bit weird. I'm not against the idea of a 4 engined cruiser, in fact a Fed cruiser with the engines laid out like * * * * would be an interesting ship, but I'd ch...

Re: F6 and Shock Trait

Given that is per impulse and there are multiple impulses in a turn in FC, should the F6 suffer from Shock at all? Logically you'd just fire two disruptors each in consecutive impulses. You might say firing overloaded disruptors causes Shock, but should firing non-overload disruptors do so given tha...

Has someone got Fedcom and can check the rules for the F6 in there? Particular;y for shock.

Re: State of the game?

In my escort range I had a range of 3" for ADDs fired at fighters or used to protect other ships.

I kept the escort range down so running escorts close enough to be of use meant risking getting caught in explosions.

Re: Klingon C5 Light Raiding Dreadnaught Pics up

With Battleships in the next supplement, do Heavy Dreadnoughts really add anything that isn't covered? Light Dreadnoughts give you a Fast unit with more firepower than a heavy battlecruiser, and so are awesome. Heavy Dreadnoughts are just slightly heavier dreadnoughts that aren't quite as heavy as b...

Well I'll be getting one (or two) of these.

Re: [ACTA:SF] Discussion about Morale as it relates to comba

That's why all the scenarios I've submitted to Matt have been nicely generic. That way you can use them with any fleet. Even then only one's come out in something.

You could write this into scenario rules. Would make for some interesting scenarios.

Re: Missing Weapons and traits on certain ships

Yup, with 6 forward ph-1s on everything bigger than the War Destroyer, the Feds main weapon is definitely phasers.

And larger maps also benefit fast ships and agile ships a lot.

Is there definitely going to be a second edition? The pdf version should be getting updated with all the errata, but has Matt told the playtest group there will be a 2nd edition?

Re: Future of 2000AD Gaming

I think that plastics moulding is actually very on topic. I think looking at Wargames Factory you have to disregard what happened before the change of ownership. The problems before then have continued with Tony's new venture (and the 200 page thread on Frothers pretty much covers those), which pret...

Re: Future of 2000AD Gaming

A $4-8k per sprue figure makes the idea of plastic judges and sovs fairly achievable. On a kickstarter you'd need something like 30-60 $150 pledges per sprue.

It does lead to some interesting possibilities. Particularly if you start thinking of the Star Fleet stuff, which is already 3-D sculpted.

Re: Future of 2000AD Gaming

I was going to bring up the Dreamforge kickstarter, as it shows the WGF are making huge strides since the company was 'reorganised'.

It also shows the potential of 3D sculpting.

I would be very interested in knowing the costings to get a sprue done.

Re: Well done Mongoose

I had a problem a few months back where my Klingon box set was missing a few warp engines (or "Z-Grav Units", as the Klingons call them...per the animated series anyway). Mongoose got right on it and sent me a few new engine relacements. Mongoose was great! On the other hand, I recently got my Kzin...
