It is very much a pig in a poke. The way to avoid this is to let someone else poke the pig. I bought the basic set and one blister yesterday, and was fortunate enough to pull a Nebulon B, Assault Frigate, 3 X-wings, A-wing, Y wing, 2 Tie Interceptors, Tie Fighter, Lambda class shuttle and some prequ...

New Star Wars Mod thread

I've been giving Star Wars conversions a bit of thought. Last thread got hijacked so starting a new one. - Opinions please? Turbolasers - treat exactly like pulse weaponry - simple straight dice. Heavy turbolasers - as above but cause double damage Ion cannon - damage dice are not rolled on a succes...

This is how I was planning on it. However one possibility may be to have an armour threshold. I know we had this problem with the B5W conversion. Should shields be the equivalent of hull 4? Bear in mind this is because we are simulating the possibility of missing, which is factored into the attack d...

I do think the first criteria should be fun. Scaling would be necessary, and I have been considering 1 AD per 2 Turbolasers, and 1 ion dice per 4 ion cannons. This prevents bucket o'dice syndrome, and prevents Star Wars ships being too uber compared to B5 ships. The next question is range, which my ...

Well I'll be taking the Seperatists out tomorrow and seeing if general grevious can finally pull off a win against the Republic and their AT uber tank of not dying until turn 5 no matter how much fire you pour into it. At least everyone is unlucky with their Jedi deflect rolls. But to avoid being to...

I've statted up so far: ISD -War VSD and Mon Cal MC80 - Battle Dreadnought - Raid Nebulon-B and Carrack - Skirmish Corellian Corvette - Patrol The MC80 is not a straight match for the ISD in combat (and they frequently in the various fluff and games take on VSDs evenly). The MC90 would more likely b...

Well I've worked out some stats now, only problem is I forgot my USB stick so won't be posting them now until Thursday. As with the original B5W conversion, there is some scaling.

Have you considered converting the alternate history Dilgar from Babcom? That is the supplement mentioned at the beginning of this thread and I currently lack the means (ie a complete set of the ACTA rules) to convert them myself. If people are definitive about they must have an Armageddon level shi...

Interesting

I didn't know the BAR was available in the 20s, though I know by the 30s it was the standard squad MG for the Polish army. I knew about the two expeditions into Russia, and that they didn suffer from mission creep pretty much straight away, sent to guard materials sent to the Provisional government ...

Mods for ACTA?

Given the imminent release of the Star Wars starship models (unfortunately as skewed towards the prequels as previous WOTC releases) I was wondering if there is an ACTA star wars mod. I know there is a B5W one (as well as mods for Freespace, Farscape, Star Trek, Star Gate and a few others) and was w...

Questions about USMC/US Army in 1920s.

I know this is a bit of a random question, but I have a good reason for it. I'm asking here asking here because I know a fair few people here have an interest in military history and/or have been in the military. In the 1920s who are the Americans fighting (I'm guessing South American countries on b...

Starting out in ActA

I'm starting to get into ActA (ie digging out my FA miniatures for a start). I've borrowed the old starter set off someone at my club to run it this weekend (was going to go with 5 point battle, and have assembled fleets for 5 races, the big four and Vorlons to give people choice). I will have to ge...

Note that this effects all manufacturers in scales above 15mm. Look at GW for a start, as Terminators look massive next to landraiders (because the base adds an extra 4-5mm to their height.
Everything on the ubiquitous slotta base has that problem. Even historicals.

Not a lot of people realise that the second largest contributor of troops in Iraq isn't the British, its mercenaries.

They get called contractors a lot. And because they don't have rules of engagement, do some of the "dirty war" fighting.

I would like full on supplements, but S&P articles are necessary to keep the interest up. As long as supplements feature new material not simply printing of the S&P stuff, thats all good in my opinion. Has any thought been given to what if scenarios? Some obvious ones would be - Spanish join the war...

That would leave the Indian Arjun as the last modern MBT with a rifled gun.
And the Challenger II only needed rifling to fire one type of ammo as I recall.
