Re: ACTA:SF criticals, repairs - what do you get back

No, those you do get back when the critical causing it gets fixed. For completeness's sake: You don't get damage points, shield points (starting score can be repaired, but you need to Boost Shields to get the points back), additional critical levels caused by critical effects or the aforementioned M...

Yes, I'm sure nobody at either company has thought of that and are going to release book 2 first

Re: Noble Armada

Hello Mr Sunshine :P The new book is more likely intended for adding additional rules (final versions of the playtest stuff out there for scouts, escorts etc) and new fleet lists, not be a new version of the rulebook. That's why it's called book 2. The PDF/fixed/V2 or whatever you want to call it wi...

Re: base sizes?

Technically, yes. But a number of the models overhang the base enough that model size often dictates the minimum distance possible rather than base diameter anyway.

Base sizes aren't critical for any game purpose, no need to rebase what you have.

Re: [ACTA:SF] Take Evasive Action vs Ship Adrift

It's not dead in the water, just not moving at warp which is why there's no visible drift movement in this version of ACTA. Greg's right though, you've always been able to nominate Adrift ships in the movement phase in ACTA rules (unless decrewed in versions which track crew loss). That's what you a...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Take Evasive Action vs Ship Adrift

It's been ruled before that adrift ships don't get to use movement-based special actions or traits in other versions of ACTA, although it's not spelled out in the rules (since adrift ships don't get to move in the movement phase). I'd imagine the same applies here.

Re: Shield crits

I usually just place the boost dice next to the ship or card rather than record them on the record sheet (and simply change them down as you take hits), and mark off any shield boxes lost through crits from right to left on the shield box track (much like billclo described) so you only need to mark ...

No. The only criteria is that you use them after any other drone defence measure.

Re: Simple questions?

1) Yes, you can fire weapons from both arcs if the target is right on the line between two of them (we usually announce our intention to do this when moving the ship to avoid arguments :)). When the target ship fires back, you can choose which of the two faces takes the hits (you say Front !). 2) Sc...

ACTA: Any word on the Kzinti reference cards ?

Seems to have been a while since the last Reference Cards set was released, is the Kzinti set due out anytime soon ? The poor Kzinti still have to make do with hand-written cards while the other major empires get their spiffy printed and laminated ones, and there's not a sorrier sight than a sad pus...

Re: Board size?

Assuming the OP doesn't have the rulebook, it's 4'x4' for games up to 1000 points, 6'x4' for larger. Squadron boxes are around the 750pt mark, Fleet boxes around 2500.

Re: [ACTA:SF] Unusual to-hit situations questions

Aye, I was just thinking about Seekers myself in that situation. I'm unconvinced they should be able to fire at all at any range in a nebula (at best you're only getting intermittent glimpses of the target, if an unmentionable battle from an unmentionable film between two unmentionable ships is any ...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Unusual to-hit situations questions

I'd say yes, in absence of any ruling to the contrary. It's not like you actually have operating shields in a nebula, so the bypass effect isn't going to matter. With the Accurate trait on almost all direct fire weapons, you're only going to have "impossible" shots regularly on Photon Torpedoes (Acc...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Unusual to-hit situations questions

I'd agree with Janus that Attack Dice modifiers are applied to the dice themselves, not the score to hit. But the "bypass on 6" has already been ruled on as being a natural 6 (i.e. a roll of 6 before applying modifiers). Here for once: viewtopic.php?f=75&t=50544
