They don't just exist in Glorantha. The bastards are here in real-life, too.

David Gordon did all the legwork between Lynn Willis, Larry Niven, and Niven's agent. He did a great job trying to get it together too - and it was a shame it fell at the lats hurdle, because it certainly had LN's endorsement. If you dropped Gordy an email, Jeff, I'm sure he'd be happy to share what...

Larry Niven's Gil Hamilton series might make a good SF setting. Indeed it would, but the licence isn't available. A couple of years ago, a few of us Ringworld/BRP afficionados looked into getting a 'Known Space' BRP game going, using the DBRP rules. Although Larry Niven had no problem whatsoever wi...

If something happened on the Shared World idea (other than just the map), then I can see the wiki becoming pretty busy. It just needs someone to take the plunge.

I do think it's a useful resource though, but it needs the odd prod, like this, to keep it fluid.

Pointed noted, Adept, and not disputed. The 'Gwenthia Overview' PDF, available from the main wiki page, is the best place for beginners, but you're quite right to point out that this isn't clear or helpful. I'll see what I can get done on that score. We do have an Intro document that I'll get online...

If you take a look at the Gwenthia wiki (http://www.gwenthia.org), you'll get a very good idea of the setting and its background. There's also very good PDF document available on the wiki that answers all your questions.

Hope you welcome you aboard as a playtester!

Gwenthia: Playtesters Wanted!

Playtesters wanted for Gwenthia. For over two years, The Design Mechanism has been developing the world of Gwenthia as a setting for roleplaying adventure. Our intention is to publish the setting using the RuneQuest rules (under the OGL licence), and we are now at the stage where we have a workable...

To both ObbeHobbe and Sorn, The Design Mechanism is in the process of preparing the RQ rules to power its shared fantasy world of Gwenthia. The setting is available in PDF from http://www.gwenthia.org/ and it might be what you're looking for. (or it might not; but take a look first and see what you ...

Re: MRQ Wiki - Shared World Map

The area I wanted to develop would be a largely wild, unexplored area, with players discovering much of this 'lost world' being a big part of my plans. Can something like that work in a shared world? It seems it would be hard to detail 'wild' areas without the secrets having to become common knowle...

MRQ Wiki - Shared World Map

There's a very nice shared world map on the MR Qwiki site. http://mrqwiki.pbwiki.com/SharedWorld Question: has anyone done anything with it? Are there any moves to develop it communally as a viable RQ setting? Having done a bit of this Shared World Development over on Gwenthia, I'm keen to get invol...

RQ/Gwenthia Scenarios at Conception 2007

About Gwenthia Gwenthia is a fictional setting for roleplaying games, wargames and other creative pursuits, that mixes fantasy and SF. Gwenthia is the name of a planet where humans co-exist with alien races, genetically enhanced and mutated creatures, and magical entities. If you’re familiar with G...

I remember my dismay, back in the old days, when the D&D people got the rights to Lhankmar and Chaosium got the rights to Elric. WRONG! Elric's hack-and-slash, piles-of-bodies style was clearly D&D, and the Grey Mouser's distress when outnumbered 2-on-1 was clearly RQ-like. So both the main RPG sys...

You can certainly find mature 'class n level'-driven games: Bushido springs readily to mind. It has all the D&D hallmarks - character classes, levels of experience, (but only a maximum of 6), XP (two types), saving throws, and a d20 mechanic. Yet somehow, it's both a mature and intuitive system, and...

I've played BRP for almost 25/26 years, and I find that pretty much any variation you care to take - from RQ2, through Ringworld, Stormbringer, and right up to MRQ, plays intuitvely, easily, and, most importantly, maturely. Different variations offer different facets that suit different genres and g...

I've got a copy of a 146 page CODA to BRP conversion written by Colin Brett in 2004 (it's on the web at http://www.colinabrett.uklinux.net/ ). I haven't even read it all as I use CODA for the campaign I run for my sons, but while not complete it looks pretty good. Cheers Dave And very, very nice it...

The new Frank Miller Spartans film, 400, looks like it has a distinctly RQ-ish flavour to it. From the trailers, at least. I thought it was 300 Spartans at the battle of Thermopylae. It was, and the movie is called "300". :) And personally, most 80's fantasy/Barbarian films can be very MRQ, in my o...

And there is, somewhere, a script for a genuine Runequest: The Movie which, presumably, was Glorantha based. The new Frank Miller Spartans film, 400, looks like it has a distinctly RQ-ish flavour to it. From the trailers, at least. 13th Warrior: yep, Orlanthi vs Hsunchen cannibal types. Haven't seen...
