Re: Does the Scout come with weapons?

Yes, it does. Yacht and Safari ship come with small craft and/or vehicles, too.

Re: Naval Adventure 3: Fire on the Sindalian Main - ebook & Pre-Order

p. 2: "Trojan Bight" Not a familiar term, but I think I get it. If it's the region coreward of the "Outrim Void" then it would help to add it as a label to the map on page 3. But if it is synonymous with the Outrim Void, then just use that term in the text. "Trojan Bight" is a term that was establi...

Re: Can thrown weapons benefit from aiming?

I'd say 'aiming' in the sense of the rules is taking care to hit a target and I would allow that for thrown weapons. Aiming a dagger thrust would be more like a 'called shot' (well: 'thrust', really), making sure to hit a specific location of the opponent. That was my first impression at least.

Re: The Best Background Skills

@Linwood, I like your idea of background skills modifying the first career enlistment rolls. I shall ponder on this for a bit. @MyndkryM, I encountered Luck as a quasi-attribute in Call of Cthulhu an liked it. That's why I adopted it for Traveller. We used Boon dice, too, but rolled luck and Morale ...

Re: Reach Adventure 7: The Last Train Out of Rakken-Goll - Ebook & Pre-Order

A fanzine from 1987 would fit the bill. It's when the movie came out that covered the 1966 novel.

Re: The Best Background Skills

I support that idea. In my group, we use the Luck attribute, mostly as described in the Traveller Companion. However, when rolling the attribute during character generation, I let the player use the higher rolling dice as Luck points to reroll any roll during creation, while the GM (me) can use the ...

Okay, thanks for your input and the houserule insight. I think, something similar will appear on my (virtual) table as well. Especially considering Burst Lasers and their possible use in anti-missile point defence.

Re: Rules Question: Ship Combat Weapons with 'Auto' Trait

Thanks, I know these weapons appear in HG, that's where I quote from (among other things, such as JTAS 1). But as I explained, the "personal combat definition" is inadequate for spaceship scale: Ammo usage is no issue and spreading a full burst over six metres maximum is probably more precise than a...

Rules Question: Ship Combat Weapons with 'Auto' Trait

Greeting, fellow Travellers! In High Guard and JTAS 1 starship weaponry with the 'Auto' trait was introduced. I could not, however, find rules what this trait is supposed to do in ship combat. I would like to know, if there is an official ruling I missed out or alternatively, how this could work. He...

Re: Astrogation check

My take on the updated compact disc, would be that the local starport has their station astrogator, or a specialized computer programme, come up with the calculations. This also ensures that the starships stick to the pre allocated space lanes. Certainly class A and B starports will feature that, c...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Ancestors are important to Aslan, so there are some really good role-playing opportunities there. Our Aslan player has small scout, which I let him keep for later adventures in the campaign. So his ancestors are taken care of. So far, he has not demanded a separate shrine on board the Harrier. We wi...

Re: Drinaxian Compnaion

Should the base components section come after the base building rules? They seem a little out of place where they are. I (we?) received an updated version of the PDF the other day. It's considerably bigger (about 1/4 or so) in megabytes, but I could not see any new texts, reshuffling of the existan...

Considering how much of that MgTJTAS 3 article contradicts canonical sources I would have to say it is incompatible with the OTU.
Depends on the idea of canon for MgT2: It could be, "canon" just means "has been published within this edition". Otherwise, yeah, things look differently.

Re: Ship's Locker: Out of the Closet

You can hip-fire an M60, although accuracy is questionable. If you keep your bursts short the weapon’s weight can help keep control. Using the sling and leaning in helps.... Same with the MG3: doable, but of questionable tactical value. Looks cool and, you know, before you take that ammo back home ...

Re: Astrogation check

That indeed is an issue addressed as well in JTAS 3. There is a time limit stated for which one can keep the j-drive hot safely. After that, stuff happens, usually expensive or dangerous or both.

Re: Third Imperium and Traveller Lore

Hi, nice to see you're getting into it and want to know more about the 3I. A lot of Traveller lore has existed for decades, making many "facts" having been published over and over again and over a wide range of publishers. The important stuff has already been republished by Mongoose for their curren...

Re: Astrogation check

Per JTAS 3 (for MgT2) plotting a jump takes between 10-60 min, but using a partially pre-plotted calculation reduces this to 1-2 rounds of ship combat. It is also stated that ships with multiple astrogators usually pre-calculate several possible jump destinations to near-completion. Military ships u...
