Re: Particle beam radiation damage
Absolutely. The harrier is just badass. If you really want to be psychopathic about it, the combination of the particle beam and the military grade countermeasures means you can kill a ship's crew with 1-2 long range shots, while they never even get a distress call out - or perhaps never even see yo...

Re: Boarding actions
I don't think there is anything else, and don't know what the core Rulebook note that you quote was supposed to refer to.
I'm not sure what else needs to be included, either. Conducting boarding actions on a personal scale simply means using the personal combat rules.

Re: Particle beam radiation damage
The Harrier is distinct enough with or without the Particle Barbette. And there should be a roll both for arrest attempts and spies every time the Harrier goes into port. It works because the region is relatively lawless. Flying around the Hierate or the Imperium holding people up with impunity with...

Should also be extremely difficult to acquire outside of navy vessels. In other words, you can’t just customize your new far trader with one, unless its being built at Theeve.

Re: Particle beam radiation damage
So with a PB barbette you can just kill ‘em at range, board, toss a few bodies out the hatch and have free ship. Depending on ow hard it is to get ahold of a particle beam, it seems foolish to go into space without extra radiation shielding.

Re: Particle beam radiation damage
I’m thinking the paricle beam would be good matched with an advanced technology pulse laser, with the advanced texh goving it the long rsnge trait. Thst pushes the pulse laser from long to very long. Then youve got two weapins thst can batter opponents from a distance, one with radiation. Also makes...

Particle beam radiation damage
How do you guys handle radiation damage at the spaceship scale? Particularly looking at the Pirstes of Drinax: the Harrier is unbeatable against many opponnents due to the combination of superior thrust and superior range of the particle beam barbette. But if I’m reading the rules right, if you pop ...

Re: Is SOC per society?
I agree with others that SOC works primarily becuase the 3I setting is a fuedal setting in which status, either earned or via birthright, matters immensely in Imperial society. The Argyr and Aslan have different stats because Charisma and Territory are what impact ones social interactions in their s...

Baldur’s Gate 2 is the all time classic in this regard, IMHO.Tom Kalbfus wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 1:31 amEver play Minecraft? What if we had a program where the DM designs dungeons and the computer runs them?

I beleive he wants the Aslan to live as long as the game material says they do. The rules as written don’t match the narrative, so he’s looking for a solution. Seems fair to me.

Re: Pirates of Drinax Patron errata or bad deal?
If it 2200per parsec (i.e. jump 1) the deal just went from extremely poor to extremely good.
I do think it would be expected to take 2-3 jumps to get there. Few would pay the jump 5 rate for a regular, consistent supply m

Pirates of Drinax Patron errata or bad deal?
In the Pirates patrons section, (book 1 page 266) the patron on Keaih offers a shipping contract to Vorito at a rate of Cr2,200 per ton. Vorito is 5 parsecs away. Is this meant to be Cr7,700 or is she just a cheapskate?

Re: [Pirates of Drinax: Treasure Ship] Marine battledress question
Hard to justify that something powered, computerized, worth several hundred thousand credits, and extremely destructive wouldn't have a high level of security to prevent a lucky thief from powering it up. Unless they get themselves assigned as marines - which I would consider far less likely than be...

Re: game-master assistant software
Personally I think the data input required to automate tracking of damage rolls received and taken would be more cumbersome than beneficial. Different weapons and armor (both highly customizable), infinite variety of opponents, etc. Some tools that I use now: Name generator https://donjon.bin.sh/sci...

Re: Laboratory Ship Fuel Tanks
To me, the bigger issue is what to do with a lab ship. I like to have a scientist in a my traveller crew, but it is difficult to work the ship into a campaign. A full time science campaign sounds boring, and it would be hard to pay the mortgage.

Re: The Harrier’s armory
In one of the later Pirates adventures, Lord Wrax presents the travelers with a gift/bribe of a suit of battledress. I forget the exac circumstances. Seems like something they may not need unless its early in the campaign. For better or worse, if you have decent relations with the Pirate Lords and c...
