Re: What would happen?

Let the players figure out how to do that. Isn't that the point of being a Traveller? To figure out how to overcome the challenges that present themselves?

Re: What should I do?

I've played at cons in adventures that I wrote, without anyone realising who I was (except the referee, who I knew). Point is, being a player is about playing the game. Nobody cares if you have 19.77 years of experience as a referee; they do care whether or not you're a pain at the gaming table or y...

Re: A Likely force

You are failing to factor in the non-trivial matter that I am writing virtually all of the published Traveller materials these days.

This gives my prediction a 17.441 weighting on the SIMBAT scale and trumps your mere mathematical predictions.

So there!

Also, what happens if it takes them 82.1 seconds to realise they're doomed? Is the 80 second thing significant?

Re: Does it make sense?

If he isn't working on a game then questions about its contents are meaningless. Same if he has no license. Since he doesn't, there's little point in asking or answering hypothetical questions about details of the content. When I was Line Editor for QLI, I had a patented method for making 'gunners (...

Re: A Likely force

A force that size is a threat to stability in the local area, and especially to interstellar commerce. Probable response would be to intercept with a task force including one or more cruisers and graphically destroy the main ships, with escorts chasing down the smaller vessels. Post additional vesse...

Re: A suitable force?

Some players will not recognise the possibility of defeat even if the hosts of heaven descend among them and begin administering atomic wedgies.

It is simply not possible to answer this question without knowing your player group. And possibly not even then.

Re: Am I okay to do it?

If you have explicit permission to do it then you are allowed to, I suppose. Because that's what explicit permission means.

Is it worth the effort? That's a different question.

Re: Their most likely reaction?

The answer to all your questions is 'your uber-empire just does whatever it pleases and the Imperium tries to survive as best it can.'

There is nothing meaningful that ants can do against the boot of a god.

Re: Their most likely reaction?

I'm not sure how the number of marines aboard a vessel so advanced that the entire Imperial Grand Fleet cannot harm it would matter.

This is so far outside the boundaries of the existing setting that the only anwer seems to be 'surrender, or die in droves then surrender.'

Re: Does it make sense?

As an expert in the field, I would suggest that anyone with any hope of publishing a PC game needs to ask the IP holder about a license before starting work.

Re: Flexible Far Traders?

The idea behind cargo/fuel modules was that they are built at new design rather than converting odd spaces of fuel tank to cargo holds. You build a standard shaped cargo area with extra thick bulkheads and plumbing connecting it to the fuel system. When in use as a fuel tank, the space is part of th...

Re: Is Martin J Dougherty an alien?

FWIW, I was a professional writer before I began writing for the games industry, and games have always been one of the things I did rather than my main focus. I know a lot of game writers started out in the games industry, but that's not the path I took. If you're writing for fun you can do what you...

Re: Is Martin J Dougherty an alien?

That was Triggers, I seem to recall. I didn't have a moment to spare on that trip unfortunately. I still do some bits and pieces for TV, though no show plans at present. Games industry writing isn't my main job, though I seem to do a lot more of of it than I used to. That's mainly because Mongoose d...

Re: Fuel/Cargo Containers from Deep Space Exploration book

These are essentially cargo holds with plumbing, and obviously need to be constructed in a way that allows cargo to be handled. It's not really feasible to retrofit a bunch of odd-shaped fuel tanks to make them into extra cargo space. The option is mainly useful for ships that may have to cross the ...

Re: Fuel/Cargo Containers from Deep Space Exploration book

The intent was that they function just like regular fuel tanks when filled with fuel.

If they're filled with tinned apples and plastic flip-flops, not so much.

New Identity

No, I'm not in witness protection. I just need to rebuild.... everything... after the great computer problem.

So, this is my new ID for the Mongoose boards.

I also lost all my email addresses and I need to get in touch with John Brazer enterprises ASAP.
