But the real question is did they get the insurance?
Sorry about the multiple posts above. Not sure how that happened.

Yes, they did! And were therefore not obligated to pay the six-figure reimbursement.

Re: Memorable quotes from you traveller games

My favorite quote from the last three years of running Traveller occurred when I was running one of my own DriveThru advenutres, "The Tktk Convergence." The Travellers were at Tktk's pedestrian, type-D downport, and went to an air/raft rental agency. They intended to take the air/raft deep into the ...

Re: The Beyond is a mess

Geir, do you have any interest in redeveloping it in a way that makes it fit more cohesively with canon? I realize you're already doing that, based on your comments above, but you might be able to get Marc's blessing and make your work official. Travellermap's creator/admin posts here on the forums....

Re: The Beyond is a mess

It baffles me that The Beyond is somehow "official data" according to Travellermap. It just doesn't fit in with canon at all.

Re: Homebrew setting

Great ideas, Old School. I sometimes toy with the idea of a homebrew with no FTL travel. Something like Alistair Reynolds' Revelation Space series. It would put the focus on STL travel within systems. It's easy to scoff at this idea, but it can work. If the travel between neighboring stars takes, sa...

Re: Aslan names. Why are they so complicated?

I blame paltrysum. Not because he had anything to do with it, but he loves those names. I really do! And the reason why I like them? Because they're unpronounceable but give us an inkling of how Trokh might be spoken. The Aslan are supposed to be alien, and Dave Nilsen's "humans in furry suits" asi...

Re: Anyone else read “The Expanse” series?

I've read through the fifth book, "Nemesis Games." Great series. Didn't much care for "Cibola Burn," but that line from Amos was classic. I have trouble watching v shows. Just no attention span for them. But I should give the show a try. I discovered the books about six months ago and have devoured ...

Re: Aslan Travellers

They still get background skills. Note the text: "Traveller creation for Aslan follows the same procedures and concepts as described in the Traveller Core Rulebook." They just didn't bother to reprint the background skills table since it's superfluous.

Science article on galactic real estate

Not that Traveller, with its 2D maps, pays that much attention to this level of detail, but if you like incorporating some hard science into your astrography, here's a great article on the impact that location has on the potential to sustain life: https://www.supercluster.com/editorial/prime-exoplan...

Re: ship rental - costs and problems. Do we break char gen if ships are too easy to get?

Depending on the system you are using the Navigation skill used to be the Astrogation skill. I obviously meant Astrogation if that is the system you are using (sorry - old-school moment) D’oh! The fault is all mine. I was at work and skimming and the Navigation didn’t register. Oops. Yes, fine requ...

I have implemented the idea of Licenses. One that i have is a "Ship's Master" license (thank you David Falkayn). Requires Piloting-1, Navigation-1 and Engineering-1.
No Astrogation-1? Can’t get far without it.

Traveller doesn't really have Zoomer characters you see, because that would be 0-1 terms in char gen.

Re: Deepnight Revelation

I'm not really sure if there have been many innovations in RPGs in recent games. The recent ones I can think of are collaborative games where the GM is more of a guide than a dictator, and the integration with digitial (edit: And using funny dice which is all the craze now). I assume you're referri...

Re: Subsidized Merchant Fiances

A group of travellers who goes looking for trouble, rather than just for the next cargo, always seemed more fun. Just my opinion. Play what works for you. Agreed. Had I taken the time to simulate trade before starting my last campaign, I would have modified the rules first. Yes, you want the occasi...

Re: Subsidized Merchant Fiances

I’ve been toying with a different sort of subsidy - having a system government offer a low-interest loan (say half the usual rate) to a group planning to buy a ship in return for other considerations. Maybe something like a required route, reserved shipping space at a discount for local companies, ...
