Re: Melee Rules for 'Fighting Dirty'

Sshinn, you should’ve pitched that as a JTAS article. Very well done!

Re: How to stop luck ruining the game

You can click on their name and select Add foe. You can, and it does slightly alleviate the problem, but the occasional flood of five or six nonsense topics muddles the top of the board and kind of derails more interesting and meaningful conversations. Sure, you can scroll past them, but the clutte...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

After reading your post I re-read “Prodigal Outcast” yesterday and have gone from dreading it to really wanting to run it. Alas, it is probably months away. For me, it was the most enjoyable adventure yet. I had to be fully engaged. I had to learn the byzantine workings of an alien culture and conv...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

I hope they don't, too — especially since the title of it includes "GMs thread." :D We more or less wrapped up "Prodigal Outcast" today and I have to say I'm disappointed in my players' lack of initiative. They're a conservative group and haven't really tilted the risk/reward proposition much in the...

Love that impromptu ship design, Kulthea. Half tempted to use it.

Wow! The death of a very key NPC. Must have been a huge moment in your campaign. Nice writeup, Kulthea.

I agree with you, this is just a discussion. It is very difficult to convey the true emotion or feeling behind posts - perhaps the computer could log how frantically the keys were pressed :)
Good point. Peace, Brother Sigtrygg. :)

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Speaking of undeveloped Patrons and Opportunities, has anyone developed the Pourne one: "A jump-capable scout ship of possibly nonhuman design arrived in the Pourne system some months ago. The only crew member was dead, and the remains were sufficiently degraded by radiation exposure that it was imp...

Don’t do it, man! It’s a trap!
Shoot. I was figuring we'd partner on it! :P We both have nice day jobs, so I figure if we ruin our Traveller reputations in the process, at least we have a fallback plan.

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

And MgT material is most certainly not canonical for the OTU, only for the MgT ATU, and even then the core rules are for a generic setting game, not the Third Imperium. Within the Third Imperium setting of the OTU hydrogen most definitely is not needed to fill a jump bubble - or are you saying MWM ...

Re: Book 9 Robots

Someone should really make a pitch to create an MgT2 robots book. One that makes robots fun but doesn't break the game. Hmmmm.

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Them's fightin' words over at the COTI forums. Angels on the head of a pin, I suppose, but as long as Matt has Marc's blessing, it's QED. What they might have a hard time with is T5 saying something else. No point in arguing that. That's where we are. The universe is essentially the same with diffe...

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

Page 148 of the Traveller Core Rulebook : "Jump travel is the only known means by which a vessel may travel faster than light. To jump, a ship creates a bubble of hyperspace by means of injecting high-energy exotic particles into an artificial singularity. The singularity is driven out of our univer...

Re: Rules Question: Laser Rifle vs G/Bike

Maybe phavoc can shed more light on this since he was in the military but I've always heard that hitting a moving target is what separates the pros from the posers when it comes to sniping. We're probably talking about Vietnam-era weaponry, though. High tech weapons, such as a TL9+ laser rifle — tec...

A collector doesn't use hydrogen.

Antimatter slugs do not use hydrogen.
Ah, I see now. I'm afraid I'm ignorant of collector technology. I guess that would be a workaround of the hydrogen limitation then, wouldn't it. Clever idea.

Re: High Efficiency Batteries for Jump

I think the mechanics dictate that the hydrogen for the jump is required regardless. A battery alone cannot do the job.

Re: JTAS 5 - Page 124 - The great escape

So it appears. I'm sure they'll fix it for the final. The wording of the sentence, "For the sake of simplicity, the referee may simply determine the distance to the jump point and then double the escaping ship’s speed toward that point each round" is also faulty. It should say something to the effec...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

We're a long way away from "Blood of the Star Dragon," but I want to start laying the seeds now. Our group has become intimately familiar with Oleb, but Harrick and Rao are still mysterious to them. They know that Harrick has an interest in Asim, which coincides with one of the players' altruistic p...
