Drive performance should be calculated as normal for the total tons needed, this would include external cargo or attached ships. Drop tanks would not be included in jump drive calculations unless they where to remain attached during jump. After this modifications can be applied.
Thanks!

Re: High Guard 2e Ship Design Spreadsheet v1.1 (Google Docs)

You mean M-drive performance? I hadn't considered that at all. It's a good idea, I'll try and take a look later All drives really, M, J, R and high burn thrusters all calculate performance based on displacement. Drop tanks, clamped ships or boats and external cargo all change the total volume so yo...

drive performance with external cargo, drop tanks or clamped ships

Should drive performance for ships with drop tanks, external cargo or clamped ships be calculated from the base volume of the drive as it would be for a non tweaked drive or from the volume of the adjusted drive? I think the former as the base volume is what the drive performance is figured on befor...

Bluekieran

Are you planning on adding the recalculation of drive performance to account for drop tanks, external cargo and clamped ships or did I miss it?

What's the reason for the 75 ton limit on external cargo?

Re: VHB 2e ammunition question

Nothing I can say is official. The official answer is already presented to you in the books. (Yeah, I know, that doesn't help cos Mongoose's books have way too much room for interpretation which are easily seen as errors). Let's look at the real world. The Bradley IFV is equipped with a 25mm Bushmas...

Re: VHB 2e ammunition question

The issue is that like many thing "common sense" is defined by each individual's view point Very true but the only one that matters is for you and your group of players, it's contextual baby! For a long long time I bashed my head against the brick wall that is Mongoose, there are so many vaguely wr...

Re: VHB 2e ammunition question

To answer more specifically, why do the magazine sizes have to be the same? When the book specifies a light auto cannon it could be one of many different models that will have specs so similar as to be considered the same weapon. Small changes like magazine size to work with different vehicles or ap...

Re: VHB 2e ammunition question

Are you trying to compile an errata? Mongoose has long said that they leave things open for gamers to decide. Whether you see that as a cop out to cover for a lack of QC or a fair interpretation is up to you! It's best to not get bogged down in too much detail as you will lose the will to live... Wh...

Just like the fuel tanks are empty and you need to buy life support too ;)

Now, the factory that built the vehicle might be able to hook you up with a deal on your first magazine full of ammo...

I'd guess he just doesn't update his eBay shop very often, I would most certainly own a copy if the AEH was released and it's not listed on either Mongooses shop or their pages on DTRPG.

Re: Ships of the French Arm

Last I read, first edition Mongoose is being put out to pasture. If that's true and the line is basically dead how about releasing the first edition Aerospace Engineer's Handbook as is under say an OGL so that the community could work on it and share it? Ok, now I typed that I know it won't happen a...

Re: Removing Hardpoint Limits: Necessity or Heresy?

Changes the game for a small ship universe huh? Demolishes canon!

I've always liked the Battle Rider idea that GDW published way back in the TNE days, I might take some time designing hardpoint free riders and their tender but keep each rider below say 2000 tons.

Re: Removing Hardpoint Limits: Necessity or Heresy?

Not really, it costs MCr 250 and has no space for anything but all the gunners... Did you try the design with virtual gunners? Anything with that many weapons is gonna stack up the price, we're not really talking civilian or local LE vessels here. I can see militaries or the larger corporations spr...

Re: Removing Hardpoint Limits: Necessity or Heresy?

Luckily, there are virtual gunners... get's pricey tho... But why stop there? Pull the jump drive and fuel, make the ship a remote and clamp it to a battle tender... I really like that the rules now enable you to do that (excepting the hardpoint limitation that is). Not that you couldn't p...

Re: Removing Hardpoint Limits: Necessity or Heresy?

With 2e introducing energy requirements, has anyone actually just tried designing a ship and ignoring the hard point limitation? I think the arguments re surface area are good ones but we don't have that in 2e so it's kinda moot. The other option I quite like is, now that we aren't constrained by sh...
