Re: Ready Player One Map

This is the Time Travel sector, this has 1000 time zones in it, every subsector is filled with an inner Solar System out to the asteroid belt, this comes in five parts, 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, and 6e, this fills out a cube 10 light hours in width breadth, and depth. The time periods are in chronological ord...

Re: Is SOC per society?

Depends on the society. In the good old US it is much easier to buy social position with wealth, in the UK you are still looked down upon by the nobility even if you have ten times their money - different societies different ways of recognising social status. I met a noble once, he didn't seem to b...

Re: Is SOC per society?

To be Soc 9+ in today's money you would have to be a minimum of a millionaire... There are millionaires who don't show it! There are people who live in modest homes and drive around in cheap used cars but have millions of dollars in assets. You would never know they were millionaires by the way the...

Re: Is SOC per society?

He's part of the Victorian middle class. Due to his lack of spending Soc 6, but once he starts openly displaying his wealth by splashing the cash, dressing well, getting out and about his Soc may rise to the loft heights of 8. He doesn't make enough money to be upper middle class. I think he is upp...

Re: Is SOC per society?

I am assuming nothing of the sort - popularity doesn't have anything to do with social status, your family's wealth and political power are much more important in determining your position in society. So what can a deposed king use his SOC score for? How did Napoleon use his deposed status? He rose...

Re: Ready Player One Map

This is Sector 5, the Star Wars Sector, it contains canonical Star Wars planets and moons, but not complete systems. each subsector is its own separate world, and subsectors are cubes 1 light hour on the side by the way, that is enough to fit our Solar System from the Sun out to the asteroid belt. h...

Re: Is SOC per society?

You assume someone with high social standing is popular, never heard of an unpopular tyrannical king? Lets say this king is overthrown by revolutionaries, and those revolutionaries want to kill him to cement their power, so the king tries to escape, and finds an old peasants home, can the King use ...

Re: Is SOC per society?

There is no confusion if you apply the characteristic the way it sates in CT: Social Standing notes the social class and level of society from which the character (and his or her family ) come. People are social animals, we build societies. The Soc stat measures where you fit in. Yup, the referee h...

Re: Is SOC per society?

Let me clarify. In the Third Imperium setting Soc equates to social status in that at high levels you are part of the nobility In a corporate wars based universe - not the third Imperium - Soc can still be used to measure social status, but the high levels now represent being a member of the elite ...

Re: Is SOC per society?

You are confusing social interaction with social status. The soc stat represents your relative position in the hierarchy of the society you live in - be it family, clan, tribe, village, city, country etc. Charisma represents how well you can interact with others. In CT this was skill based and requ...

Re: Is SOC per society?

Because the Imperium runs on Social standings, charisma and riches mean very little to the larger imperium as those in power grant favour to those lower than them. Charisma works better in a society without such stratification and other places your / tribe / families territories mean even more. Wel...

Re: Is SOC per society?

Some races seem to have other stats in lieu of SOC. Sometimes very similar ones. Should SOC then be tracked per society? Ie: social level while in aslan territory, social status in the imperium, charisma when hangin' with the dogs, etc? Makes a lot of sense to me. I wonder why they just don't use C...

Re: game-master assistant software

My brother played a lot of Baldur's Gate back in the day. And I was thinking that the simple voxel style modeling is Minecraft would be easy to manage. But I want to keep the game master in charge of the thinking parts of the game. The thinking goes into the design of the adventure or encounter, bu...

Re: Ready Player One Map

Each Face of the cube could have a different Theme. SCIFI Fantasy Superhero Historical Non-Human ??? You could use either the same game rules - Traveller, D20, or D100 would all work well - D20 and D100 would work especially well as many of those generas have already been published. You don't even ...
