By the way, AKAramis, I think the playtest PDF you linked to is the same version (3.2) as the OP's link.

We made the items 'free with purchase", a minimum of $5 for 0ne item, $10 for two items. Sold lotsa dice, and no one complained. Some actually praised us for that, since it kept the looters away. Actually, I like this system or one similar to it. My local game store gave away one freebie per custom...

I'd love to see it as a free PDF or even a $0.99 paper copy (or whatever is needed to cover basic cost).

I'd love to run a game and having a half-dozen of those would be really a great way to introduce my players to the game.

I picked up a copy of Book 0 this morning from our local game shop (as well as a variety of other things). I did as well, except that my local gaming store only lets you have one item per customer. (Lucky for me, I anticipated this and brought my sister along as well. ) It looks good so far ...

Any companyreleasing a Gor RPG would, at the very least, lose much credibility, if not actually damage the industry by triggering US-wide book burnings. I still think that a clever game designer could build up the setting without some of the more objectionalble details. Make it more Greek or Roman ...

Introduction to Traveller

I saw on a website a list of products given out for "free RPG day" and one of them was an "Introduction to Traveller" booklet from Mongoose. Will a PDF version of this be in the downloads section someday for those of us who won't make it to "free RPG day"? I have the main rulebook already but was ho...

Y'know there certainly is a lot of source material out there for a Resident Evil RPG. A lot more than I might have guessed. * Several video games. (I don't play 'em but I know they're out there.) * Three movies. * At least 6 novels. Seems like this would be a worthwhile project for Mongoose , especi...

I get this problem but only on certain boards. (This one, sadly, is one of them.) What happens is that I get frustrated and instead spend my time where one idea = one post. Sometimes here it may take me 6-8 posts in order to actually post once. :( (for example, I'm at ten tries already on this post,...

I also like the "old school" black & white look. I've said for years that games should read more like this and not have funky colors of font on strange colored backgrounds. I own some game books that are works of art but are hard as heck to actually read. Thumbs up from me on this one!

Frankly, it makes good buisiness sense to stay as current as possible. I think that a lot of gamers will resist the change for a while, then slowly drift over to 4E. That's what happened in the 3E to 3.5 shiftover.

I met Erick years ago and feel honored to be able to say that I participated in a few of his games. He was a true master of his craft. I had read ADRP before playing in his game and never really quite "got it" but when I saw him in action it all made so much sense! He will be missed by the Amber com...

No, I just don't see it. The problem is that in general people want the newest of everything. Those of us who play OD&D (1974) and AD&D (1979) have been hoping for more product support for decades but few companies want to risk it because they don't anticipate enough return on their investment. Mayb...

Re: What was your 1st edition of Traveller?

Hey am almost as old as dirt... My 1st edition was the black boxed set in 78 or so. Been hooked ever since. I won't say that I've been hooked ever since, but my first edition was the little black book box and we played quite a bit in the late 1970's. Since then I have continued to follow Traveller ...

I really like the approach taken in the Icon system Dune RPG (by LUG): The players are the movers and shakers of a house minor... Perhaps even the head of the house. They might be beheld to one of the "big Names" even... so one might be a vassal house of the Atreidies (pre-novel), or of Corrino... ...

Well presented case Finarvyn. 8) Thanks. I didn't want to just whine about it but instead to really try to think through the situation. Based on e-bay sales, I'd say the market is there. On the other hand, I wouldn't be the one investing my time and resources to gain the rights and develop the game...

A little bump to necro this thread again. I think that "franchise" subjects for RPGs are few and far between. By a "franchise" subject I mean one where the name almost sells the game. Conan is like this, as is Elric or Lord of the Rings . Star Trek and Star Wars are good scifi examples. All of these...

I'm guessing the line didn't sell well. Mongoose doesn't support stuff that doesn't sell (like d20 ST  ) Maybe, but if I recall my timeline the ink was still dry on the Lankhmar book when it was announced that they had the rights to Elric. Elric is a better seller overall, and it seems like th...

How about more Lankhmar love?

6/14/09 EDIT: Added a few more links. How about more Lankhmar love? I feel as if Lankhmar was used to help launch MRQ, and then was tossed aside when something better (Elric, etc) came along. I went back through (at the time) 37 pages of Mongoose posts and made a list of all of the threads with a L...

I was thrilled to see Conan 2E on the shelf at my local game shop, but put ti down quickly when I discovered that it was B&W on the inside.

The 1E book was so fantastic, 2E looked like such a let-down. :(

So, would it make sense to watch the series but just stop one episode before the end? Would that avoid the cliffhanger issue, or is the entire series just one big cliffhanger? :?

Also, the comparrisons to the new Battlestar Galactica has me even more interested... :D
