Re: High Guard is Here!

Evening PDT, HG 2e Chapter Two Weapons & Screens p. 23 Small Craft firmpoint. Is there a cost for firmpoints? No cost for the firmpoints, just like there are no costs for hardpoints on larger ships. The weapons themselves and, if you upgrade, the single turret costs credits. Firmpoints are just the...

Only INT and EDU-based checks can be attempted.
Core, p106.

Sorry.
I would have assumed that screens would be an Int check, not Dex. Quickness of mind and all that. Bummer.

Clarification on Screens

Just a quick clarification on how screens work. In order to activate them, you need to make an Angle Screens check using Gunnery. HG2e page 33 says that you must succeed at a check against an attack. Does that mean you roll after the attack, and just need to get that 8+ to succeed, or does it mean t...

Missile Salvo Question

Are missile/torpedo salvos for barbettes and bays all-or-nothing, or can you choose any number up-to the listed salvo number? For example, a missile barbette fires 5 missiles at a time (HG2e pg 26). Is that set in stone, or can I fire a salvo of 2 or 3 to conserve ammo? On the flip side, can missile...

Re: 2e trade question

I just realized I might be doing something wrong. When I apply the World Population and Starport, I have only been applying it once based on the system I am in. But having read something I am curious if I should apply it also based on the system I am going to go to? I know in 1e they had both in th...

Re: Barbettes/power/# in turret?

Oh, almost forgot: would a missile barbette really just be like a VLS anyway? It's not like you need to point the missile at the target when you shoot. Been on enough missile shoots to know that much. That is my take on it, yes. I see it more like what you see on Stargate with the Tau'ri ships, not...

Re: Barbettes/power/# in turret?

Barbette's require only the power of the weapons. Since each barbette is its own emplacement—and you can only have one weapon type per barbette—there is no additional charge for the mounting. Turrets can mount a variety of weapons, but each barbette is a specific emplacement. And no, you can't do a ...

Re: Central Supply Catalogue vs Core Rule Book

I would follow the CSC. The core book was finalised before CSC (and High Guard, the vehicles book, etc) so the later books still had some tweaks made to them. Therefore, I think the newer books are a more definitive source.

Re: What is the TL of a person?

Depends on which augmentations they've bought. And what if they have none? Maybe the tech level of their homeworld. But better would be the highest tech level of the service they mustered out of or participated in during their career? How does one's upbringing affect the guidance system of a bullet?

Re: What is the TL of a person?

Against an un-armored person is personally give the guided ammo the maximum +6 to hit, and if they wear armor the TL of that is used to determine bonus. I'm not sure armor without builtin computer would protect against the smart bonus though.... On the other hand, it might be a passive thing result...

What is the TL of a person?

Short-time lurker, first time poster! The CSC has guided ammo for pistols and rifles available at TL10. However, the guided property is based on the TL of the weapon vs that of the target. If I use guided ammo against a person, what's their effective TL? NIL, and therefore just the inherent DM+1? TL...

Re: High Guard is Here!

I may be misunderstanding something pretty basic, but several of the ships seem to have the wrong tonnage for their jump drives. Apologies if this has been picked up already or if I am missing something basic. Scout/Seeker/Serpent J2 in a 100dT hull should be (5% x 100) 5dt, yet they have 10dt list...
