Re: Starport defences

Sure, but if they can stand off and threaten your star port or whatever with missiles from 300, 000km off then the defences are useless... They need eyes at least as good as the enemy or they're dead. I guess that may work for the subs because they're ambush attackers (more like a guerilla warfare o...

Re: Starport defences

Not amazingly cheap but, To be sure, To be honest my thinking was that once you've paid for the power plant and chassis it's cheaper to fit a triple turret and three racks than buying three vehicles... My biggest difficulty was with sensors, even maxing out range they're going to be dependent on ot...

Re: Starport defences

Worth noting that there are much cheaper options than sdb's, I knocked together a fairly competent anti-ship missile launcher with the vehicle rules (think MRLS) for about 5MCr, You can buy a lot of those for the price of one SDB, Whilst SDB's have a lot more flexibility, a poor nation can fairly ch...

Re: Maneuver Drive Energy Efficiency

Can this advantage be taken 3 times (ie, TL12 drive built at TL15) for a total power reduction of 75%? It seems like that's correct by the rules, but it also seems kind of over powered... It could be argued that the reduction is only 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 = 0.42 or 42% rather that 25%, That's how I te...

Optionally, the vaudeville may hire an expert to organise the event for them. Finding the greatest party planner/ architect/speech...

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Throughout book one, Some stat blocks and descriptions seem to be repeated, and the character comes up several times (e.g. the royal family, Kasiyl, hawk warriors, etc. Is it worth moving these into an NPC chapter at the end to avoid repetition and to keep all of each characters information in one p...

Book one, pg. 232 Fire in the Palace: A location in the palace catches fire. Any dice that roll a 1 in that location. The fire spreads to a random adjacent location each turn. Securing a location puts out its fire. Any dice that roll a one do what? Maybe consider adding a neutral die to a location t...

Probably trivial,

Particle beams aren't like atomic bombs - there's no fallout to worry about.

Nuclear missiles are a different story I guess,

Regarding the last, I think the example makes it a bit clearer, but examples should be there to add clarity, not to present rules omitted from the main text.

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Book one, pg. 231 Roll all your faction dice on that location. Just to be clear, you get one action per full two dice, but for each action you may roll all of your dice in that zone? There seem to be plenty of bonuses to rolls, but no penalties, is this intentional? Rolls will typically be on 2-3d6,...

Book one, pg. 230 – unless the Travellers have an Imperial Standing of 6+, in which case change one Neutral die in the Ambassador’s Wing to whatever faction they support. If their Standing with the Imperium is 20+, then change 3 Neutral Dice there to support the Travellers. Is that an additional thr...

Obvious question, how near is near? I guess it'll vary a little according to the environment, weather conditions, etc, but it's be nice to have a baseline.

Book one, pg. 218, AHROAY’IF

What does Kasiyl recommend? He's the aslan character the players have the closest ties with and the one they're most likely to go to for advice on how to proceed. Auals opinion is interesting, but unlikely to be the players first port of call when seeking advice.

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Book one, pg. 211, Socialising This section seems garbled : After the test, roll 2D; on an 8+ and the test was successful, the Traveller gets an introduction. On a failure, or on a 7- on the second roll, the Traveller takes that much damage from potent Aslan liquor or bar brawls. I think you mean so...

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Book one, pg. 211,finding Lokharl It is exceedingly difficult for the Travellers to find Lokharl on their own. Surely a high profile figure like a diplomat would be easy to find, but virtually impossible for bums like the players to get an audience with or contact directly... Doubly so if he values ...

Re: Star Town

I think there is a good chance the startown will actually grow within the starport so that rogues and ethically challenged merchants can get away with ignoring local laws, until they cross the line. Some of it may spill over into the jurisdiction of the local government, and depending upon local la...

Re: Pirates of Drinax 2nd Ed: Typos, Errors, Bugs, Gremlins, Etc.

Book one, pg. 209 Aslan guides range in cost from Cr25 to Cr250 per day; they have a Reaction Table DM of +0 to +4, and a cost of their DM + 1D x Cr50. These numbers don't add up, and you omitted the needed brackets (as written the roll is: DM + [1D x 50], giving a cost per day of 50-304Cr!) If you ...
