Re: Cargo bays and vacuum

Airlocks consume a minimum of 2 tons and cost MCr0.1 per ton. Larger airlocks can be used for cargo bays. " A cargo bay that can be opened to vacuum is an airlock that has a Cost of MCr0.1 per displacement ton of space dedicated for cargo. I read that as suggesting that you might want to take bigge...

Re: Belt mining

I've just tried to play through this out of curiousity, I figured on starting in the N zone. Assumed the piloting check to enter orbit passed, as I'm not sure what you do otherwise - I'm guessing you're not getting close enough to roll a collision, unless perhaps you roll a 2, so I guess you just tr...

Re: High & Dry transplanted.

[...] So just dropping Walston into the Theev Cluster might well have unintended consequences, depending upon where you set it. I dropped it just above Palindrome, so as to not create a jump-2 route on the other side. If you want to set the adventure in that area, the simplest solution would be to ...

Re: First-Time GM looking for advice

I'm doing the same - did chargen recently, first real session is tonight. Assuming your lot aren't already familiar with the rules I would say, avoid the temptation to roll up a toon of your own at the same time (you'll be busy answering questions), and have as many copies of the careers and the flo...

Re: High & Dry transplanted.

Have just spotted the Drinax: Theev PDF and realised that Theev's reputation as a hotbed of piracy may make it an unsuitable neighbour for Waltham... I'd stuck it there largely because it didn't notably change any jump routes. On the other hand, it may just make the "offer" central to High & Dry les...

High & Dry transplanted.

I'm looking to run "High & Dry" for my players, starting tomorrow night. But as there's more material out at the moment for the Reach than the Marches, I was thinking of transplanting it, and have basically dropped my extremely Walston-like "Waltham" near Theev. It does occur, though, that it's a lo...

If you have half gravity, in theory you could double the weight and load of the carriage to get that traction.
Or make the rails (and wheels) wider but slimmer.

Re: size and price of advanced components

If you want to penalize people for choosing more capable engines, and let's say reward them for buying junk, this doesn't really work. Definitely. Take the standard Jump-2 drive, TL11, in Far Trader. The ship is already TL12 due to it's power plant, so increasing the drive to TL12 and giving it a 1...

Thanks. Does this make software a hidden additional cost? E.g. Free Trader has Jump 1 so you need to spend an extra 0.1MCr on the Jump Control/1 software?
Pretty much!

Its not considered beta anymore.
Do you plan to allow people to sign up for accounts, in that case? I'd love to try it out but it still seems to require a login.

What shows, movies, books, etc.. inspires you when planning on running a Traveller Campaign? I'm new to the Original Traveller Universe, so I've been reading books set in the OTU to get a feel for it. Agent of the Imperium is excellent, and the New Era trilogy is also good, particularly The Backwar...

Re: 2e ship design spreadsheet?

Okay, so my spreadsheet is coming along nicely, and (barring the software) can now build a Far Trader. Naturally as soon as I tried to do so, I discovered that my minimum power plant and jump drive size assumptions were off, but I've corrected those. The cost, though, is showing as MCr58.1405, MCr6 ...

Re: 2e ship design spreadsheet - work in progress.

Thanks! I had a similar spreadsheet in progress and this helped me find some errors on my side. Kinda wish I had remained blissfully ignorant of the error I had on my armor tonnage. If you know how to do conditional drop-downs and/or have a row-hiding script[1] that works, drop me a PM! ;) You migh...

Re: 2e ship design spreadsheet?

Conditional drop-downs (i.e., two hardpoint options if tonnage indicates it's a small ship with a firmpoint, all options otherwise, and later hardpoints may or may not be available) are proving tricky at the moment... I could always just trust the user to know what they're meant to have available, I...

Okay, so I have googled some spreadsheet tricks and made a start on a proper, modular spreadsheet. Have got as far as section 7 (sensors) of HG2.

Take a look, and let me know if you spot any errors:

Admittedly a 200-ton version is actually better - down to 64-70tons (depending on exact build) of cargo space, but costing a little under MCr60.

200-ton version
