Re: Creating a Breakaway Hull

Looks like the Fesaor design only took the beakaway tonnage intro account and not the total tonnage. they are 4 tons short on connectors.Good catch. So each sub ship should have 1 ton of connectors on it. Reduce cargo by 1 ton and you would be okay, adding in the extra cash. 8 million. Docking clamp...

Re: HG 2e Clarification needed between Modular Construction and Modular Hull

Having a core unit that is not streamlined and having breakaway pieces that are streamlined or at least fuel scoop equipped to allow refueling is pretty standard design. Deepnight Endeavour does it. The Manta ship in TNE was the flying fuel tank for the Clipper ship. The shuttles are the ships that ...

Re: HG 2e Clarification needed between Modular Construction and Modular Hull

I think he is talking about making the Breakaway ship a Dispersed structure based hull design. If allowed it would save 50 percent of the cost of a hull. This could be a lot of money. pg 10 has special hulls as more options within the standard configurations. Dispersed Structure is on the Hull list ...

Re: HG 2e Clarification needed between Modular Construction and Modular Hull

HighGuard book page 64 under the software program "Virtual Crew" has ships without a bridge "Indeed, ships can be designed without a bridge, relying purely on this software package in order to function as a drone. Ships that have no living crew make appropriate checks with a skill level equal to the...

Re: Breakaway Hulls and turrets

The 49 ton sub pods have 0.5 tons of M Drive, giving Thrust 1. They have Basic Sensors and a 10 Bandwidth computer running virtual crew. So the pod can act as a drone basically, there is no bridge.

I am glad you wrote that about Advanced Plants AnotherDilbert. I used the same math in my TAS module, but wanted to wait and see if someone else agreed with me. Thanks for proving Cunninghams Law again. Woot!

Re: MgT HG2e PDF page 61 Manufacturing Plant Advanced Clarification needed

I think Advanced Plant and advanced technology create a confusing situation. I think the correct reading would be as follows 1: Ignore the Advanced plant entry when looking at the Manufacturing Plant Table, take Basic Plant as an example TL 7 Uses 10 tons of Plant to produce 1 ton of goods and has 1...

Re: Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

That is why I was looking at a standard core unit and standard Secondary Units. Imagine something like the flying brick shape of the shuttle ship in Flatlined. The breakaway hull system could be a linking series of those bricks. Each brick lines up and connects nicely to the brick next to it. Have t...

Re: Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

Each unit would have enough Power plant, M Drive and Jump drive to be able to operate that unit. This brings up a RAW issue. Since Jump Drives are minimum 10 Tons and J1 is 2.5 % of Volume Jumped the 10 ton minimum would be a 400 Ton capacity. Note that this ignores the "+5 tons" in the RAW, since t...

Re: Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

Well you could have Engineers and Astrogators assigned to the secondary units, and use the software to replace the crew the software can replace. The description of the Virtual Crew software package includes this: "Indeed, ships can be designed without a bridge, relying purely on this software packa...

Re: Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

I am looking at the possibility of making a commercial battle rider concept as the idea evolves. A secondary unit that contains a lot of Jump drives and fuel could allow several pure cargo pods to be mounted, or pods with Docking clamps to carry non Jump capable ships. There are RAW possible ways of...

Re: Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

Hmm, a re-read of the Jump Drive section in Highguard says a Jump drive must be 10 tons minimum. J1 is 2.5% so 200 tons would be 5 tons of Jump drive, plus 5 extra for the Core is the minimum Jump drive at 10 tons. The Secondary units would be 10 tons and could be larger than 200 tons, a 400 ton mod...

Is there a limit to Breakaway modularity?

Is there a limit RAW to how breakaway hulls fit together? Assume a standard shape hull of 200 tons. This is your core module. Everything will be done in 200 ton units. The Core modue has 200 tons, Power plant and Jump drives the Thrust 1, Jump 1. The Core unit will have the 5 extra tons of Jump driv...

The repeated questions about deals between various planets and what each supplied to the deal?

Which were the posts by you and which were fake?

Re: Altered Carbon

I read the T5 material, and it covers a lot of the concepts that would shake things up in the Imperium. I am messing around with the idea that a high tech concept/prototype is in the Scholars tower in Drinax, since that is near where my current game is set. This would allow the players to get stacke...

Re: My Drinax Campaign as A Player

Are you incapable of playing anything OTHER than a player from the Dilettante book with a portfolio? This character makes no sense for the campaign of piracy. With the resources at hand you should make it an NPC and have it act as Patron trying to set up a new colony on Asim. And this is about the 3...

Ahh Lazarus Long/Woodrow Wilson Smith. I have that paperback sitting on my shelf just a few feet from me. I will look into T5 and the insurance policy. I like the oddness of the tech and looking at the impact it could have on a society as the new tech takes hold. No needlecast in the OTU so no FTL i...
