War-hobbyist. Thats a new one on me.You could make a mint out of that. release magazines and minitures for the war-gamer (all pre-painted and twice as expensive and takes twice as long to produce)and then the war-hobbyists gets the same but just in kit form quicker and cheaper. we also get the best...

The M1 has better targeting capabilities? A tank is more intimidating than a HMMWV? Game balance? Magic pixie dust?

TOS is right, of course, only a Mongoose can really answer this one. But I'll have fun speculating in the meantime... 8)

Batletech could be done as a mass combat game, and would be quite interesting. It would be an absolute pain to do it with the current rules, a couple of lances a side and perhaps a tank or aircraft is the most I'd want to play at the moment, but with a faster less details system you could do full s...

There aren't competitors for 6mm sci fi? I'll try to forget that GZG ever existed. But Battletech, on the other hand, is hard to forget in the realm of 6mm sci fi. Oh, sure, that's why I weaseled with the word "strong". Baccus recently started competing in 6mm SF too. But honestly, compare the numb...

Check out NetEpic for another game that has survived well past its publisher's disinterest. It can be done, but in the presence of strong supported competitors (which there are in 28mm, but not 6mm), it's non-trivial.

Well, I would hope it was a company on the production side of things, rather than the distribution side. Production seems to be where all the problems have shown up, after all. Who that would be? I don't know the industry well enough to make a good guess.

Something about pre-painted minis and models seems a little juvenile to me. I see 12 year old kids playing games like Mechwarrior and Star Wars at my local game store and I look at those games as introduction games to the world of miniature gaming. Then you graduate and pick your brushes and paints...

As I had understood it, they had planned to make the air assets available in the first waves of SST:Evo. Whether this will still be the case remains to be seen, but I think that they are aware that people would love to get their hands on them. Plus there was also talk about a skinnie air unit as we...

thanks, though I can't say I like the rule. If were hits it would make more sense, but I can now see this resulting in a squad dieing very easily It actually works fairly well. You can now React to being shot at, so you get the opportunity to fall back behind cover with your move reaction before be...

SST:Evo has been delayed for an unknown period of time. The most reliable rumors I've got: * The rulebook will be released in November, with figures to follow in 2008. (Presumably unit cards would either be in the rulebook or available in S&P.) * The delay is due to problems at the factory. Whether ...

Why be sorry I could follow that either. More like rabbling from the mind then clear writing. Um, Mr. Pot, I think you forgot a 'not' in your clear writing above... He who lives by the pen, dies by the pen :). But yeah, I agree, the OP was a little unclear. I'm still not sure why I would complain a...

'Wow they cost the SAME as unpainted miniatures, these are awesome value!!!!' to their parents So you don't remember another gaming company, who shall remain nameless, making the same claim a while ago? :) I really hope they do go with Spacehulk prepainted. The fire zone is a circle with a 6 inch radius, so why can't we just have a circular template with a 6 inch radius? Um, because we want to be able to transport it? And don't want to pay $20 for a glorified clipboard? I mean seriously, make a 6 inch radius template out of paper: that's huge! I can s...

Re: Yep EVO Faster!

So I really agree more with all of you about EVO- my note was really about a pee- wee nuke defying the laws of physics and not normally vaporizing anything in it's area of use??? Defying the laws of physics? Nukes are just explosives, the same as anything else explosive, and you want your man-porta...

Another popular house rule concept: Medic: Leave models that miss their Armor save face down on the table. If a medic can reach them, roll to see if they can re-enter the fight: 1-2 re-enter with no penalty, 3-4 can't move but may still fire, 5-6 remove as casualty. You can add rules for helping wou...

The problem is, as they catch up Hasbro and Wizkids are also moving forward. True, but that assumes one actually cares about relative rather than absolute quality. Me, I'm happy with the models now: I think they are "good enough" for gaming purposes. As the quality gets better, more gamers will hit...

Rule Number one in designing games. NEVER let facts destroy gameplay. The advantages of other command units is the fact they can hide, stay well out of the range of combat and keep giving that extra order. You could make the RL the same, but then you lose the flavor of the model. Rule #4 flavor it ...
