Re: Does Mongoose have any plans for Legend?

Although the whole of Legend is released under the OGL, it would be nice to see updated versions of the remaining MRQ II books - for example, Empires and Necromantic Arts. When the Glorantha-specific material is removed, it is possible to bulk these out with relevant game mechanics from Elric,Hawkmo...

Re: Does Mongoose have any plans for Legend?

With all of these recent posts, it sounds like the band is back together. Now we just need some new products to fire up everyone's enthusiasm :D Don't worry I've been working on compatible products vis Eternity Realms but the day job makes it slow going. :( Eternity Realms is intended as a long-ter...

Re: Does Mongoose have any plans for Legend?

Good to see you back. And I hope that you can release your adventure. Are you thinking of doing it through Mongoose or as an independent work?

Re: Does Mongoose have any plans for Legend?

i agree with all of this. The extended period of silence is frustrating. I know that Legend is not generating the kind of revenue that the Traveller licence does, but it would be nice to have an acknowledgement that future products are still coming! Also, remember that Mongoose also has the products...

Re: Does Mongoose have any plans for Legend?

A number of new Legend books have been submitted to Mongoose for editing and there are others at various stages of development. However, it looks like the available resources are currently tied up with the reboot of Traveller, so progressing them through the production queue is problematic at the mo...

Re: Lots of Dice and a little Cepheus Engine, too

Another question - are people planning to use the Cepheus engine simply as a vehicle to publish Traveller compatible material under the OGL in a way that protects their intellectual property rights, or are they interested in extending the system with new rules content (albeit at the risk that it ma...

Re: Lots of Dice and a little Cepheus Engine, too

It's a pity that the licensing used by TAS is so restrictive in comparison for what was available with MgT 1e. Another question - are people planning to use the Cepheus engine simply as a vehicle to publish Traveller compatible material under the OGL in a way that protects their intellectual propert...

Re: Lots of Dice and a little Cepheus Engine, too

Now there is a character sheet http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/188939/Cepheus-Engine-Character-Sheet Nice. Are any other publishers planning to support the Cepheus Engine? Or is TAS getting all of the love? Out of curiosity, does the TAS agreement prevent you from dual-licensing works? Could yo...

Re: Cepheus Engine

Traveller Canon is obsolete . HabCat and the Habitable Exoplanets Catalog chew up canon systems day by day, overtly producing results that are not consistent with the “Imagineering” behind Traveller’s canon! We’re going to reach a point where Traveller’s canon has been proven wrong so often that no...

Re: Cepheus Engine

I tend to agree that unless there is a really good reason to change the dice, it makes sense to stick with the d6. I can understand the urge to update the setting in various ways, and can sympathize with this urge, but I'm not seeing any strong argument for modifying the system's underlying probabil...

Re: Cepheus Engine

I’m just saying that Traveller risks being left in the dust if no one thinks about redeveloping it from the ground up, including the dice being used themselves, because the factors making 2d6 a wise choice are no longer valid. Do you mean that d20s is now more common than the kind of d6 you got in ...

Re: Cepheus Engine

2d6 no longer provides any meaningful convenience factor, and in the face of significant competition, the best mechanics for the desired style of gameplay should rule, regardless of whatever they may be. So Traveller’s gameplay should be reinvented around this premise. Actually, no. The best mechan...

I wonder if this will encourage Universal Machine to produce some additional SRD supplements that build on the Cepheus Engine? ;)

Re: EM Drive Result of Experimental Error

It has always been unlikely that the EM Drive was a major technological breakthrough, if only because it seemed to violate a couple of well-established principles. It is likely that further experimental work may be required to validate these preliminary results, but this does seem to find an explana...

Re: Cepheus Engine

Also, keep in mind that certain details about the core careers are explicitly declared as Open Game Content in the T20 books. The implementation in Cepheus isn't exactly the same as in MgT, so it's probably on safe legal ground.

Re: Cepheus Engine

I have OSR books that will not say "D&D" in them. OGL just means soul-less game rules. Only one career is allowed in the generic 2D6. It's like Linux people who end up trying to run Windows on their computers, because Linux. Hey, I'm a Linux user and I don't need no steenkin' Windows! :D However, I...

Re: Cepheus Engine

This was inevitable, given that many third-party publishers are wary of the licensing model used by Mongoose Traveller 2E (which is a pity, because the game itself is decent). It doesn't seem to be a bad clone, filling in the blanks from the Mongoose SRD with material drawn from T20. However, it doe...

Re: New Books, Please?

At the moment we seem to be in a weird holding pattern because all of the available production resources are committed to the new edition of Traveller. That's understandable form a commercial perspective, but it does leave Legend feeling unloved (even though it is still the no 1 bestseller for Mongo...
