Re: [GK Games] More Updates!

I must admit that I'm a bit sad that Mongoose seems to be moving away from the OGL for the Traveller system. Let's hope that whatever they replace it with allows as much third-party activity. In the meantime, I've been reading the updated OGL versions of the GK Games products and I appreciate some o...

Re: Confusion runs rampent.

Must say with so many varients for Glorantha it seems to shoot itself in the foot if you ask me. Trying to get a group of players and then trying to decied which system to go for can be a headache. I wanted to get away from RQ3 which was flawed, but all the old players at least know it. A pity, but...

Re: [GK Games] April 15

Well...we appreciate the candour so far. However, from an outsider's perspective, it does sound like one of four possible outcomes: Mongoose may be moving away from the OGL to a more restrictive licensing agreement akin the the D&D 4e GSL. This would be the worst option and may result in somebody "f...

Re: Confusion runs rampent.

Legend and RQ 6 are very similar, both being derived from the same common rule system (MRQ2). There are some subtle differences, but you can pick up material from any of these three systems and use them with minimal conversion. I do recommend picking up the RQ6 essentials PDF to see if you like that...

Re: [GK Games] April 15

I can tell you that there will be 3PP support for the new edition. I cannot tell you the details of that because, at this point, I'm contractually obligated to not tell you. That's great news! Hopefully the super-secret thing will involve releasing at least some of the new 2e rules under the OGL - ...

Re: [GK Games] April 15

Interesting. As a fan of the setting, does this mean that there will be no "official" 3PP support for the new edition? Does Mongoose have plans to update the SRD or will the new edition be completely off-limits to third-party publishers? Or are we simply waiting for clarification one way or the othe...

Re: New Books, Please?

I know. I think it's not that Mongoose doesn't want to support Legend, it's just that their production resources are tied up for the next few months with a very aggressive release schedule. Although the layout for the main Traveller rulebook is finished and High Guard isn't probably almost finished ...

Re: New Books, Please?

Mongoose have just updated their release schedule through until November 2016 and Traveller fans are going to be very, very happy. However, no new Legend products are listed on the schedule at this point. I note that the new Paranoia is also not listed, so it's possible that Mongoose is hitting some ...

Re: New Books, Please?

Any update yet?

Is there any chance that a Legend book can be squeezed into the production schedule in the next few months?

Re: New Books, Please?

Unfortunately for us, Legend is a niche game that doesn't have the mass-market appeal of the other RPG systems that Mongoose publishes. It still has a decent following, but the whole d100 community is in turmoil at the moment - with multiple publishers altering their release schedules for various re...

Re: new to legend

You may also find some useful stuff in the Spells of Legend sourcebook that I've been compiling from contributions by many of the folks on this forum. Here's the current daft in a couple of formats - it's still a work in progress and I urgently need to update the credits, but you might find somethin...

Re: Creating Realistic Cults

I hope so too.... :D Harnmaster was a complex system, but it's treatment of religion was exceptionally good. However, since the days of early Runequest, the various d100 games have tended to draw their inspiration more from the "real" polytheistic religions of the ancient world than any medieval mod...

Re: Creating Realistic Cults

A book on cults is a hard one - a realistic portrayal of pre-modern religion has always been one of the strongest points of the various d100 games. The original RQ set the bar fairly high in this area, and with the new Chaosium edition on the horizon it will be very tough competition to beat. For my...

Re: New Books, Please?

Hopefully soon...I'm glad that Traveller is getting some love, but there's a danger that the long gap between legend releases will make people assume that it is a "dead" system.

Re: new to legend

The Vikings book contains one chapter on Viking Religion and Viking Magic, plus a useful bestiary of creatures from Scandinavian mythology. The Vikings of Legend book focuses on the "classic" viking period from the sack of Lindisfarne in 793 to the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066 (which settled th...
