Re: 2200AD
Ah well; we got to post number 5 at least before somebody waded in with one of Travellers traditional problem issues

Re: 2200AD
I've been thinking of something similar - using around 2200 as a starting point. Rather than using the 2300 universe however I'm thinking of extrapolating on from the 2100 Orbital setting - so keeping nuclear rockets, spin habitats, no grav technology, and space is big and dangerous to be in etc and...

Re: Question on Traveller: Orbital
Just picked up Orbital - and have only skimmed bits of it so far; but this is I think one of the best Traveller supplements I've seen. A very well worked near future setting that makes sense.

This. AFAIK books are VAT exempt, so as long as it is only a book and labelled as such no VAT, import duty, or handling charge to pay.lastbesthope wrote:GPO fee? THere's no import duty on books AFAIK...or is this another charge?

Is there any sort of news, or even a possible ETA, for part 5?

Re: Prime Directive...
Am I reading this right that you can't start work on even starting to push things along towards even getting close to producing a finished book until at least June or beyond? Just because of deckplans (which many of us don't want or will not use - certainly not in the entire ship mapped out format) ...

Re: Mongoose Series Adventures for Traveller
The one thing I'm less of a fan of is the gap in time. I have massive respect for Mongoose for handing these out free, but I'm with the people who stated in the Drinax thread that I'd rather pay a nominal amount - even in advance - and get the whole thing in a quicker timeframe. I know Mongoose has...

Re: Quick Question - Who Would Be Interested In This?
Not for me.
I would use/consider Traveller for SF and Modern/Near Future. For Fantasy I'd use another system - probably Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, or something.

Re: Future Traveller - Testing the Waters
No worries. I just hope Mongoose hurry up and develop and release some Traveller minis - via Kickstarter maybe in finances are tight for new product development.
That way at least some of us will have new stuff to buy - depending on which scale they use.

That quote isn't actually from me - it was mpoles.Infojunky wrote:crazy_cat wrote: Seconded. It's the default scale for science fiction miniatures (because of WH40K) so most of us already own some in that scale. Decades ago, 15mm was the most popular scale, but it's very difficult to paint 15mm miniatures to look good.

Re: Future Traveller - Testing the Waters
I'm not trying to win an argument here - you prefer 15mm, I prefer 28mm - that's fine.
Mongoose need to decide which, if any, scale to make Traveller minis in. If it is 28mm I'll buy them. If it isn't I wont.

Re: Map Packs
For home printing too - especially as the map packs as currently designed require you to print out the black background.AndrewW wrote:Printing costs went up...
If they provide a version with a white background for printing that would be great - we could do with that for the older map pack PDFs also.

Re: How would you handle bringing Space 1999 to Traveller?
The mass of the Eagle, combined with a passenger pod, is listed as around 328 tons - so it's more like a modular sublight small craft, capable of 15% of lightspeed. That is mass. The 50 'ton' Modular Cutter is 50 DTons volume . Given the length estimate of 31'ish metres for an Eagle (21 x 1.5M squa...

Re: Future Traveller - Testing the Waters
For minis I'd prefer 28mm - and minis for the things unique to Traveller, so Kaefers, Vacc suited ships crew etc for 2300AD; and Vargr, Aslan, Zhodhani, Imperial Marines etc for OTU; and generic (armed and unarmed) human ships crew and citizens for use with any setting. 28mm works alongside many oth...

Any chance of 28mm Traveller minis - or of licensing them out if allowed? I'd love to see 28mm Aslan and Vargr in particular as they are hard to find Proxys for.

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose
What would be worth a Kickstarter, would be to make an all digital software version of Traveller - so that you could generate characters, starships, worlds and systems all with a computer or tablet. If they can raise enough money, it could be made really slick and stylishly with graphics for starsh...

Are we safe assume this latest campaign is dead as there has been no update for two months and no further comment or reply from Mongoose?
