Re: Illustration: Monopede Fast Attack

Monoseeds are in there. I remember a model of those when I was first getting into anime. If I had to track down the inspirations for the design it would probably have, Kugelpanzer, Monoseed, Venus Wars moncycles, and the alien shredder balls from Battleship in my designs DNA... Grievous' Cycle didn'...

Illustration: Monopede Fast Attack

Why? because I can.... Okay between the Kuglepanzer, and a video of a personal drone posted earlier I just had to.... http://img14.deviantart.net/e9cd/i/2017/060/f/5/monopede_fast_attack_by_wbyrd-db0toev.png The "wheel" wraps around the frame of the vehicle and is driven by powerful electric drives ...

Re: Vehicle damage clarification

How are people house-ruling this? Personally, I use a lot of handwaving, and don't bother with looking up rules. If I wanted to get simulationist, I'd use GURPS. But I'm more a story game kind of person now. A single bullet from an AK-47 can take down an Old Huey helicopter..my .38 can wreck the av...

Crowbars from space! perfect for taking out TL 7 Tank divisions in Footfall by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle! Not surprising since Pournelle developed the Project Thor idea in the 1950's. The railway spikes might be like the lazy dog bomb from the vietnam war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kineti...

Re: Vehicle damage clarification

Hi, Can I check I am interpreting the vehicle combat rules (as written) correctly, in that the following scenarios are correct: - an average unarmed attacked (1D dmg) may well render a standard g/bike (armour 4, hull 2) inoperable and beyond repair (so, 6 dmg would reduce hull to 0). - a couple of ...

Re: Ortillery options

Or the low tech version of ortillery a few cargo containers loaded with iron projectiles the size of a railroad spike dumped out of a cargo ship as it comes in for a landing...the ship is not going at orbital velocities so the spikes won't burn up...but they will be moving at near supersonic speeds ...

Or an Ithaca Thirty Seven. I believe modern production models prevent this. its a safety issue for civilian firearms, no one wants it going off because John Q hunter forgot to take his finger off the trigger.Or wasn't taught not to touch the trigger unless you want the gun to go boom. Re: Ship's Locker: Out of the Closet

Revolver or Semi Automatic Pistol? One interesting fact I learned. all things being equal, is that revolvers are more tolerant of neglect. All firearms should be regularly maintained and cleaned, and nowadays, reliability is about the same; however, you can park your revolver, and forget about it, ...

Re: Roug concept: Mobile anti ship guns, with illustration

In the interests of maximum destructive power, there have been many warlords and vehicle designers who have looked at the practical applications of mounting spacecraft scale weapons onto vehicles. They have enjoyed mixed successes, but the effect is always destructive, to say the least. Any spacecr...

One thing that may have been overlooked is whether the missiles are smallcraft or large craft, and the pictured launcher doesn't appear to be fourteen hundred cubic metres of volume.

Is it a true mecha, or is it heavy powered armour? The dividing line is a fairly fuzzy one, but the rule of thumb I like is 'Powered Armour is worn like a suit, a Mecha is piloted from a cockpit'.
Light walkers are that in between breed....not quite mecha not quite Battledress.

Re: Roug concept: Mobile anti ship guns, with illustration

Based on the rules that launcher might not be able to survive long enough to launch all those missiles. You may want to think about downsizing it to accommodate something along the lines of a MLRS, or even a Patriot style battery. A crew of three would be sufficient, as the commander would have mul...

Re: Roug concept: Mobile anti ship guns, with illustration

So while the size of the standard missile is 1/12 Dton, storing it in a travel container means you get 6 per Dton. In theory a magazine is storing them pretty efficiently, so I let that size slide. Actually, per classic Traveller , a starship missile is 25 cm in diameter and almost 3.5 meters long,...

Cool! But I'm not sure of the scale, as there seems to be a LOT of missiles in those pods! Are they all supposed to be standard missiles? Just to show some comparison, here's an ATACMS round next to a standard MLRS 6-pack - http://media.defenceindustrydaily.com/images/ORD_ATACMS_and_MLRS_Pod_lg.jpg...
