Re: Sandcastors with no sand?

What I have been playing around with is a basic auto loader/magazine options for vessels. Autoloader: tonnage: 0.5 ton per ammo using turret/bay/mount Cost 0.05Mcr This is the actual physical mechanism that moves ammo from storage to turret. including a half ton ready magazine under the turret itsel...

Re: Expanding Traveller's Audience

Since we are talking about increasing audience....I thought Id share this. I Just finished up running a session tonight, I gave them a break ad ran just a bit of DnD, but for the past few weeks they were getting a taste of Traveller... I have been running one shops for a local game shop which is try...

Re: The Lone Starport

Almost every star system has an oort cloud, even if there are not habitable worlds. Harvesting comets for fuel would reduce the overhead, allowing a small flotilla of ice miners/crackers to supply enough fuel for most needs. the station could conceivably charge extra for fuel if it significantly red...

Re: Expanding Traveller's Audience

If this is what you are looking for...well Hope my first project does well and I get a second shot at doing some work for the MgT series If you have any side or 3/4 view shots of a ship of yours, I can do a CG render of it just for fun. I have some three views, but side views, and 3/4 still have me...

Re: Anti-missile weapons

I know I am jumping in late, but as much as I would like to see it the difficulties of shooting down a star ship grade missile is pretty daunting. I did some quick math and came up with a volume of 1.16 cubic meters and change for a standard missile. 12 missiles per ton, 14 cubic feet per ton/12 = a...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Spaceships: Armaments and Missile Packs Each missile pack takes up a turret hardpoint and weighs one ton but fires all loaded missiles at once and uses the Gunner (bay) skill. However they can only be reloaded in a starport. 1. That one tonne of fire control should be able to control that discharge...

Re: Expanding Traveller's Audience

One thing that would also help sell Traveller a lot is the good old standby... better artwork. Get rid of the current artists and start fresh with new space scape artists. Enough with the canon ship drawings that are 3rd Imperium specific. I know this is a hard point because of how jump drives work...

Re: [House Rule] Life support

ore than once we scrubbed for days, trying to pull out every gear and fittings we could. the result was a slightly less than nausea inducing stench when we opened the engine room after a day of cooking it in the hot sun.... Cleaning solvents have yet to be invented that can deal with a combination o...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

High Guard (Mgt) allow Smallcraft to mount Railgun bays and barbettes since they are not on the list of excluded weapon types, and are not considered projectile weapons. Of course a short range, ammo dependent, weapon has it's own drawbacks. If the craft can get within range to put them to use it ca...

Re: How grav drives may work.

When I was spending some time working n a game word and its technlogy, I had to do some brain work to come up with a method of creating anti-grav without tossing physics out completely. My version was a device that could slow or speed up the vibrations of quantum strands causing space to expand or c...

Re: [House Rule] Life support

one of the biggest problems with the funkiness of a ship is the fact that people sweat and shed skin. From experience even on small workboats ( 90ft ) you get a layer of crud anywhere you cant get to and scrub. Nothing short of tearing a ship apart and scrubbing every last inch of the interior will ...

Re: The Crimson Star - Bounty Hunter Type S

A good addition would be an armory from High Guard. it would be a good idea when carrying violent felons since it is far more secure than a ships locker.

Re: [House Rule] Life support

So 5 displacement tons, will support 10 people for 3 weeks without difficulty....and by that ESTIMATE 0.2 Dtons per person, is as close as i can get to an accurate volume, per person,of life support. Including Food, water, air, and machinery to support that person. Yes, I modeled this with help fro...

It is hard for me to believe but from the looks of the systems and rough calculations of oxygen requirements 388 cubic feet: oxygen per day per person 311 cubic fee: cubic feet of oxygen per Standard t type medical oxygen cylinder ( compressed not liquefied) 2.17 cubic feet: Volume of t type cylinde...

Re: [House Rule] Life support

I did some research n the life support system aboard the International space station( 65Dton) since it is the closest to a starship life support system I can think of. It has to deal with the same issues a starships systems would need to deal with..and share the same risks of damage and failure. Fro...

Re: Tramp Trader - the Gypsy Rover

Hmm we have a couple of busted 50 ton cutters..and a surplus drive module...Lets build us a starship.....I would hate to see the "Improvised engineering" that net into making that work. Great idea for a one off starship though. I like this sort of idea. I can think of a dozen ways to work this littl...

Re: Revised Far Trader

Once I knew which rule sets F33d was using it took me about three minutes t figure out exactly what he had done. Reducing cost through use of older, or surplus drives and components makes sense to me. I have to admit I wish I had came up with the idea for several ships I put together. It would have ...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Spaceships: Launch Facilities and Gee Forces Ordinary launch facilities don't give you that extra push, which may mean the launching ship may have to slow down to accommodate the launch, and would explain partially the additional time taken for the operation, as the smallcraft revs up it's engine(s...

Re: Ship Design Philosophy

Bombers are something missing from most Traveller sources. Small craft are a bit of a love/hate relationship for me in general. hey really ad to a game when you have them. But they are neither starships or vehicles so you have to do some foot work to get them to work properly in a survivable way ag...
