Topic: What setting for RuneQuest II?

Going to use my traditional RQ setting that I developed way back in the Avalon Hill RQ days; it's a flexible world, one which has been adapted as well to AD&D, D20 and most recently 4E D&D, but it still feels more comfortable, to me, in RQ than anywhere else. I've also considered running a RQ histor...

Just a quick note, as I now have the physical thing in hand, and RQ2 is very, very nice looking. If a few cows died to make this possible, then so be it. Moreover, I am now content to know that the Monster Coliseum and Arms & Equipment books will look much the same; I'd actuallycall the MC book esse...

I had run MRQ for about two years and actually wrapped it up last year, with the intent of not getting back to it indefinitely; I had a variety of minor issues with it that collectively added up to a big cluster of problems, and I am not fond of heavy house-ruling plus my main group was now in to 4E...

I believe Pinnacle relies on lisencing. Most small press publishers really don't make enough money to warrant some sort of lisence agreement, let alone be able to afford art, professional editing, and so forth; if you can't do it all in-house you probably aren't going to make any money. Mongoose may...

Although I'm one of the slavering "It has RQ on it" guys who will buy these, and I am looking forward to real leather covers....I also worry that RQ will suffer a fate not unlike when Steve Jackson Games announced that GURPS 4E would be all hardcover, all color, 200+ page books with every release. A...

Leather! I had assumed pleather, but real leather!

Dunno how I'm going to break the news to my Pathfinder group that RQII will be the new hottie in town next month.

Runestones...still here?

Seeing as Loz is quick to answer questions, I'm curious if these are still in the core magic system for RQII, if they have been excised, made optional, or are otherwise still lingering. Although I ran a campaign in which my players quite enjoyed collecting the damned things, I myself found their pre...

That's the second printing. I compared my first printing to the one that came out a few months ago, and it has the old art and the new deckplans. I'm happy with the old art, the new stuff looks better, but female illustrations look like hookers. Thanks for implying the only "entertainer" role a wom...

Re: Evaluating the art in the Core Book

Mongoose's Conan line, in general, looks amazing. They could do the same thing with Traveller if they wanted to. You are comparing apples and pumpkins. Conan used an already introduced and quite successful system, and as a famous setting with a widespread system it had a rather good chance to sell ...

No.
That's very disappointing. It was one of the best things about MRQ. It's also odd since Traveller is the other "main" system and it has one.
Yes...this is very disappointing.

Yeah, would be nice to know. I think Wraith Recon was a bust (imo) but my group regularly uses the new Quintessential books and enjoys them, was hoping by now to have seen a few more (Warlocks, Warlords, and so forth); they're a nice addition to the 4E flock, and better than other 3rd party books ou...

Conan is going nowhere. He is just having a slight pause for reasons which will soon be very obvious.

One major complaint I have about the Runes rules is that you have to kill someone to be able to use his runes. This is not as bad a concept as it sounds. I had a great stint with a villain who the PCs managed to liberate his runes from, then realized he had somehow survived the conflict because the...

I love Runequest but I do not like running games in Glorantha (I enjoy playing in the setting, however). As such, a generic ruleset with add-ons for whatever setting is desired is my preference.

I ran MRQ for a year and a half by the book, and then later with the GM Guide additions. I have to say that I would prefer the BRP method of a single hit point total with distributed damage by location (the RQ3 method) after seeing the current system in play....it made for some unwieldly circumstanc...

Yeah, I had a copy on order at the FLGS but refused it when I looked inside....I really can't abide skewed art and/or text. I grabbed a print copy of the Pulp Tales (Thrilling Tales? I forget) book from PDQ that had a similar problem, too....it's a terrible look.
