You'll need to upgrade/add a few skills when converting stat blocks (resilience, persistence and perception among others)....either that or use the "Rolls" of BRP (Idea, Know, Luck etc.) as a frame of reference for such. A lot of what's in Runequest has BRP analogs already. The Runequest III magic s...

Actually pretty much disagree with most of what you said - the setting and its non-D & D quirks (not to mention long history) is a big part of the pull of Runequest 2. the reason i love RQ2 is that it is NOT D & D Do agree around adventures though, can never have too many of these. You can play the...

For many people "after the event" listings on ebay are the only way to secure these free RPG day items; that's how I usually manage to get the ones I'm interested in. I've also sold a couple copies of WotC Game Day modules I ended up with after the fact; if someone else is a collector and I am not, ...

[rant] Yay...I can now wait for it to show up at an online retailer somewhere, since to date my FLGS has received 1 copy of the core book and 2 copies of Monster Coliseum and nothing else...and gives me curious looks when I insist he ought to have gotten Arms & Equipment, the GM Screen, Necromantic ...

On #1: Do you mean a beneficial or detrimental modifier to firing from concealment? Also, I am not sure what the issue is with targeted locations; the common sense rule leads to situations in which a target behind cover may have portions of his/her body that are effectively receiving total cover; ev...

Combat Actions define how effective you are. All melee combatants should start with 3. If you don't have 3, pick a support role or take up farming. That worries me. One reason I am attracted to RQ is because all characters seem to be able to provide reasonable contributions in combat, rather than t...

Here are a few more Grimoires that have been uncovered in my Weekly RQII games: The Book of Black Blood Written by the Mad Necromancer Sophistigos of Eredor in Old Inadasir. This book is highly coveted by the Ithirian elves of the Order of Blood for its unique necromantic spells. Contains: Body Jump...

I am glad to hear it is more generic, written for more campaign settings at large. I'm one of those Runequest fans who never did get in to Glorantha. I mean, it's a nice setting, but I prefer my own playgrounds, so to speak... :? Anyway, looking forward to getting this book, hopefully it will show u...

Well, this isn't a generic world but it is the setting I use in my Runequest II games (actually, in all my RQ games going back to the Avalon Hill edition): http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=80906&filters=0_0_0_44281 The above is a link to the free mini-gazetteer, which is system neu...

Monster Coliseum: Got it today, this is an impressive book

Better than I expected, and I am really very impressed. The book has a wide range of creatures, provides stats that cross settings for many beasts (such as Gloranthan versions of elves and dwarves as well as more conventional fantasy versions). The illustrations are are fine mix of new art and some ...

Re: [RANT] Monster Coliseum - First Impressions

Picked up my copy of Monster Coliseum from my FLGS this afternoon. It is a pretty book with a good selection of monsters. There are 108 creatures listed in the index with quite a few entries having sub-races as well. It is a bit disappointing that a few creatures such as the horse have been reprint...

My poor FLGS has been having problems with orders...they keep getting older edition books in instead of the newer editions. I think he straightened out the distributor, at last, but I am now waiting...fingers crossed....hoping Arms & Equipment shows up at last for RQII.

RQII Now the Obsessive Focus of my Weekly

Well, session six is in the bag and the group has pretty much unanimously decided to make RQII our permanent main game for the weekly wednesdays. They are all quite comfortable with the mechanics, and all scheming to figure out what strange and interesting directions to advance their characters. Me,...
