Re: What's next for Star Fleet?

Originally, the idea seemed to be to map the ships in a given book to those from a given set of modules for Federation Commander (another game set in the Star Fleet Universe; it was launched by ADB back in 2005, and is more closely related to Star Fleet Battles mechanics-wise). For example, the ship...

Re: Tugs

I suggest ages ago doing the FJ ships as their own separate boxed set with a downloadable little rules booklet, which should split everything off and make the licensing simpler. That would work well with the idea of overlapping squadron box releases with their Starline 2400 counterparts, which in t...

Re: Idea for enhancing shield usage/strategy in the game

If you decided to ditch the Klingon front shield rule and go by FC 's 1-2-4-6 shield facings, the Constitution -class CA would have 30/24/24/24 shields (if going F/S/A/P), while the Klingon D7 would have 30/22/22/22. Alternatively, one could use the Fleet Scale facets, and get 15/12/12/12 and 15/11/...

Re: Idea for enhancing shield usage/strategy in the game

There is, or rather will be, a precedent for 4-sided faceted shields once Star Fleet Squadron Strike shows up. In that game, FC shield facings 1, 2, 4, and 6 are mapped to the front, starboard, aft, and port facings respectively. In that game, shields 3 and 5 are mapped to the top and bottom (since ...

Many of the designations for the units currently in the game are noted on the Ship Cards listed here.

Re: Romulan kestrel ships

So it was basically everyone against the Andromadons then? Correct, based on established history the Amdromedans were an invaders from the Andromedan Galaxy. They have already successfully invaded the LMC (Lesser Magellanic Cloud) leaving only a handful of survivors hiding in out of the way places,...

Re: Romulan kestrel ships

No matter where in the (known) Star Fleet Universe the Andromedans go, making friends with the locals is most decidedly not on their agenda. There's a discussion thread about the Andros here , in case you are interested. EDIT: From what I recall, the first shipments of F5W hulls to the Romulans was ...

Re: Romulan kestrel ships

As someone involved with a number of the conversion speculation threads floating around, I should note that I asked SVC and Matthew before posting them. By and large, there is a difference between posting rule suggestions, as well as a handful of sample ships intended to help see how those rules fit...

Re: Cloaking Devices

Actually, you could argue that the current War Eagle is getting something of a free ride in terms of movement already (when not using its R-torp, that is); the ship can only go a maximum of speed 21 in SFB terms, yet can keep pace with a King Eagle in ACtA:SF . Technically, it can go faster in FC si...

Re: Romulan kestrel ships

One thing you'd have to clarify is what speeds are allowed when using the All Power to Engines! Special Action. The maximum speeds allowed for W- and Y-series ships should be lower than that for a "modern" TL12 vessel. For the W-series, I would suggest going with a lower set of normal and APtE! spee...

Re: Cloaking Devices

there are three iterations of a "cloak-ish" device in SFB , but not more than one actual cloak (unless one counts the adjustments made to cloaks on first-generation X-ships). The most primitive form of the technology was the Masking Device, followed by the Veiling Device; both of which only existed ...

Re: Romulan kestrel ships

I could see a discussion thread going up for the "National Guard" ships, but it might have to tie in to whatever is eventually worked out for the Early Years. Especially when it comes to how W- and Y-era tactical warp drives would be ported over into ACtA:SF . (A KD4R should be limited to the same Y...

So, to clarify, will Canada have the same Royal Mail priority service from the UK which the US will be getting (and which Australia has already)?

Here's the F6, from over in the Ship Card section of the Commander's Circle.

Re: Fleet Update #2 - Ready for Free Download

I've been thinking that gunboats could be considered in a not entirely different vein to the raider and explorer classes over in A Call to Arms: Noble Armada , such as the Stalker -class Explorer for House Hazat, or the Mujahidin -class Raider for the Kurga Caliphate. Those are relatively small in s...

Re: North American Retaillers

If it helps, there's a thread for A Call to Arms (both Star Fleet and Noble Armada) in Canada over here.

I'd recommend going with ADB if ordering online, but advice on where to go in terms of brick-and-mortar stores may vary depending on which province or territory you are in.

Re: Fleet Update #2 - Ready for Free Download

A Call to Arms: Noble Armada gets by well enough with one fighter per stand; and the amount of on-table drones need not be overly high if the drone-armed fighters end up being scaled back towards the more streamlined versions being touted for FC 's Borders of Madness . And when it comes to ship lim...

Re: Fleet Update #2 - Ready for Free Download

I was just noting this over in the errata thread, but if FC: Briefing #2 is to be used as the primary source for the Middle Years hull variants (like the Klingon C6 and Kzinti DNE), the drones in FC terms were Speed 16 instead of Speed 24; which would likely equate to a Range of 24 inches in ACtA:SF...

Re: Fleet Update 2 - Questions, issues etc

A few of notes on the "Middle Years" ships listed in this file: *The Klingon C6 might have had four drone racks mounted on its Squadron Scale Ship Card (in FC: Briefing #2 ), but was restricted to only firing two of them in a given turn. To approximate this, the Drone AD should be reduced to 2. (By ...

Re: Any word on Noble Armada?

Perhaps things might change for the setting as and when FASA 2.0 get their own planned version of the original Noble Armada game engine up and running. One of the key advantages which A Call to Arms: Star Fleet has is that it's one of a number of active game systems in the same ganing universe. Play...
