Re: Prime Directive as system neutral source book?

ATL is now also on DriveThruRPG, for those so interested.

Re: Federation Intrusion of the Romulan Neutral Zone (BATREP

If it helps, the ships currently in A Call to Arms: Star Fleet are based on various Ship Cards from Federation Commander , most of the Ship Cards for the units in book 1 are available in low-toner form for free on ADB's Commander's Circle . ( ACtA:SF does not work off of SFB directly, but rather goe...

Re: Federation Intrusion of the Romulan Neutral Zone (BATREP

And the streamlined shape doesn't give it away as a fast cruiser? Not sure if I'll ever change the nacelle caps to blue. I like the orange and how it gives the Fed ships a little color, special engines or not. I figured these ships still used standard engine technology of the race at hand, b...

Re: Federation Intrusion of the Romulan Neutral Zone (BATREP

Nice work on the paint jobs. One thing I might suggest (and to be clear, I'm not sure how "offcial" this is in SFU terms) might be to consider painting the nacelle caps on the Fast ships (such as the NCF) blue, instead of red. Much of the recent artwork for Fed fast ships shows blue nacelle caps, to...

Re: What's happening?

Are you referring to A Call to Arms: Star Fleet or A Call to Arms: Noble Armada ? (Since you noted Jean by name, I'm guessing it's the former, though I wasn't sure which you had in mind.) There have been no official reports of either version of ACtA kicking the bucket any time soon, but we have yet ...

Re: Hate to ask but...

I see. ADB tend to refer to Mongoose's ACtA:SF minis as the " Starline 2500s ", both as a means of contrasting with the older Starline 2400s and to indicate that both lines are intended for use with multiple game systems. (Technically, the same may be true for the ACtA:NA minis, if a revised edition...

Re: Hate to ask but...

To clarify, are you referring to the Starline 2500s for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet , or to the minis for A Call to Arms: Noble Armada ? In the latter case, some of the older minis are based on ships which Holistic Design had released to support the original NA game system (akin to how Mongoose had u...

Re: A Gorn/Romulan BATREP

Very nice work on the Romulans. Are there any Hawk-series ships to complete the set, or is the collection solely based on Eagles and Kestrels? One thing I might suggest is that a few of the story details might need to be edited in order to make them SFU-compliant, in case you were thinking of askin...

Re: Prime Directive...

Even leaving the potential for future sourcebooks set in earlier (or later) eras aside, the "modern" TL 12 time period has its own quirks. A Romulan player character will be stuck at Tech Level 9 as late as the Treaty of Smarba in Y159, and will have to go through a series of adjustments in order to...

Re: Noble Armada: Why no R section on ships?

The answer may perhaps depend on the kind of information which Holistic Design included in their own editions of Noble Armada ; or perhaps on what, if any, information FASA 2.0 might use/create should they ever go ahead with the prospect of launching a new version of the original NA game engine. (Fr...

Re: CAT FIGHT! BatRep

Good to see the "civil war" aspect of the Kzintis played up in paint! For those who are unfamiliar with the War of Return, the Kzinti ships which fought on the side of the Usurper belonged mostly to the Count, the Pentarchal noble responsible for the portion of the Hegemony facing the Lyran border. ...

Re: Mini Fed & Empire

Might be worth running the idea past ADB and/or Mongoose first. They may not be in a position to review it any time soon, but they may at least be ableto say whether or not they are open to the idea of it being discussed here (or on the ADB BBS).

Re: Prime Directive...

I was guessing it would make sense to simply appropriate the GURPS PD tech levels more or less wholesale, if the primary goal was to maintain universe consistency (not least since those tend to be the "default" means by which to explain the technological evolution of the setting, as opposed to using...

Re: Federation Tug

I guess that's one thing about being involved with the SFU for any period of time: once you learn to see certain naming conventions, it's not so easy to not see them. (At least the osmosis/"training" came to some use this time around.) Ironically, there is at least one such convention I can use here...

Re: Prime Directive...

Out of curiousity, will Traveller Prime Directive use the same Tech Level progression as seen in GURPS Prime Directive (where TL 9 is impulse-powered non-tactical warp, TL 12 is the "modern" era of tactical warp drive, and so forth), or will it need a new set of tech levels to account for the variou...

Re: Federation Tug

It's one of those little details which ADB have to be careful about using. There are a few others; ADB uses Kzinti/Kzintis instead of Kzin/Kzinti (and the SFU Kzintis have cat ears, no tails, sentient females, and an ancient genetic connection to the SFU-native Lyrans and Carnivons ), SFU Klingons h...

Re: Federation Tug

Very nice work. Out of curiousity, did the decals for the transport pod come from Tenneshington? I noticed that it says "STARFLEET" rather than "STAR FLEET", which might be a problem. (The terms of ADB's licence with Paramount require the use of "Star Fleet" in the SFU, and officially-licenced tie-i...

Re: What's next for Star Fleet?

I'm sonewhat surprised that an announcement like this, with the potential to be so important for both the Starline 2500 line and for A Call to Arms: Noble Armada , was buried in the JD KS update rather than posted in its own right on this corner of the forums. Still, here's hoping that both ADB and ...

Re: What's next for Star Fleet?

It is unfortunate that the ADB-Ad Astra deal-in-the-making fell through. For this game, I do hope we are in for the long haul, not least since the kind of empires and settings I most want to see would be either a few years in the future (ISC, Andromedans) or would only have a shot at being considere...
