Re: Prime Directive...

The strategic-level Federation and Empire wargame provides data on the major military installations found in the UFP and elsewhere in the Alpha Octant. For example, if you go back to the " west " map and look to the western half of Federation space, you can see a chain of battle stations (upgraded v...

Re: Prime Directive...

Voids are hostile regions of space, where sensors do not function, magnetic and ion storms abound, and ships can be lost without trace within minutes of entry. In the case of the Alpha/Omega Void, things are made worse by the presence of the Souldra. They are dark energy life forms from an alternate...

Re: Prime Directive...

The SFU Kzintis are different from the Known Space/ Slaver Weapon Kzinti in part due to licensing issues. There are discussions in various Prime Directive volumes about the mysteries of species seeding in the Alpha Octant, as well as the issue of near-duplicate planets and other mysteries which may ...

Re: Prime Directive...

Again, the Star Fleet Universe Kzintis are not the same as the Kzinti shown in The Slaver Weapon . Their ships (which look like this ) are armed with phasers, disruptors, and drones, though they generally have a higher proportion of drones than disruptors. Logistically, they use the same kind of pla...

Re: Prime Directive...

Star Fleet Universe Klingons look like the ones from TOS , as shown here . There is a Klingon Empire sourcebook for Prime Directive in GURPS and D20M , which includes writeups of several subject planets and species in addition to the Klingons themselves. I would imagine seeing it being prepped for c...

Re: Prime Directive...

Many of these issues are addressed in the GURPS and D20M versions of the current Prime Directive source books, and should (re-)appear once they are ported into Mongoose Traveller . There is a one-page section in PD Feds called Time, the Air Force Tapes, and the Star Fleet Universe which goes into mo...

Re: Prime Directive...

There is some info on how the SFU's UFP handles various encounters in Prime Directive Federation , and some data on the Federation economy (it does have one) there and in the PD core book. The Federation in this setting has a number of inhabited planets "under" the hex map . Some of them are at a pr...

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

Not long ago, Atlus Japan (now under new management) announced that four new Persona -related titles will be coming out for various platforms - most notable of which being Persona 5 for PS3. Today, Atlus USA confirmed that all 4 are heading to North America , though it remains to be seen what will h...

Re: Will there be another Call to Arms?

Might the Reality Tech Storm universe (which Blue Shift is to be a part of) work as a setting for a new version of A Call to Arms ? The first blog entry says that the Nethersky sector (where Blue Shift itself is set) has "no great warships left" there. But that may not preclude the presence of such ...

Re: SFU Query: Gunnery deck on the Federation battlecruiser

The "gun deck" has 2 Attack Dice of whichever weapon system distinguishes one sub-type of Battlecruiser from another: 2 drone racks on the BCG , 2 photons on the BCJ , 2 Plasma-Fs on the BCF , and 2 Phasers-1 on the BCP (an "unbuilt variant" not yet in ACtA:SF ). The Squadron Scale Ship Cards for ea...

Re: ACTA Star Fleet AAR: Klingons vs Feds 2000 pts

Are you guys sticking with the current version of the A Call to Arms: Star Fleet rule set for the time being, or have there been any thoughts of looking into some of the proposed changes being talked about for the 1.2 revision over on the ADB BBS ? If there are any comments or observations on how yo...

Re: Noble Armada: Why no R section on ships?

The Fading Suns/Noble Armada universe was created by Holistic Design , who retain the rights to the setting's IP. Originally, Holistic published the early editions of the Fading Suns RPG themselves, as well as the first incarnations of Noble Armada (which used a different game engine than A Call to ...

If you had your choice of what size to make a Star Trek Starbase, Unless you're pitching ideas to the makers of Attack Wing *, perhaps you mean a Star Fleet starbase instead... *Actually, I recall some news about WizKids doing a special Deep Space 9 figure; but I don't know if it was (or is or will...

Re: An alternate paint style for Kzinti Scout ships

Oh, what I meant is that the arrays are fine at the locations they are in right now, but I'd have had them cover a slightly smaller proportion of each surface area. (Maybe have them go halfway up the length of each panel, rather than two-thirds.)

Sorry I'm not explaining myself better on this one...

Re: An alternate paint style for Kzinti Scout ships

I might suggest making the arrays stop a little bit further down the hull, but I really like the concept. And I appreciate you filing off the disruptors, too.

Nice work!

Re: Where are all the pics of painted minis? SF

Those Hawk ships, did you do any conversion on them to remove some detail? They seem a bit smoother than normal. On the Sparrowhawks, I removed it for the 'the initial version would be clean lines, the modified/later versions would have stuff stuck anywhere' look. And the Skyhawk's detail was remov...

Re: star trek vanguard novels great source material

I find the space combat portions of any TOS -era novels (to include the Vanguard series, which in all other respects I'd rate quite highly) to be the parts I sit least comfortably with. Probably because I'm too used to thinking in terms of how tactical warp combat works in the SFU, despite the two i...

Re: [ACTA:SF] Discussion: taming the Klingons

I still think that adjusting the front shield rule to one-quarter (while bringing the Klingon and Kestrel Shield scores "back" to the #2 shield values used for other hull types) might be a way to rein things in - so long as it was also applied to other ships and empires that warrant it. (So a Fed CA...

Re: [ACTA:SF My first Scout, let's see yours

I like the concept a lot, much more than the dish setup. Have you thought of ways in which each fleet would have its own type of array, to show how the technology might be pursued by one empire over another? (In the case of the Romulans, they could maybe use the Klingon standard for the Kestrels - a...

Re: Best way to start?

There'll be a good way to get a sense of exactly how many Star Fleet hulls and mission variants there are in SFB, once the Fed Master Starship Book volume is published.

(But then, I dunno if the Fed MSSB will only list the TL 12 ships, or will also cover the W, Y, and X-hulls.)
