Re: Spells of Legend

That Aura of Destruction spell just seems to be a hugely overpumped Wrack spell to me. I would not allow it in my campaign because the way its worded makes it just peachy for abuse. "Everything in range' makes it the equivalent of a tactical nuke. Are you sure thats the intention? I mean the Legend ...

Re: Rules question : Traps and Skinning

Hy Lilor! For skinning I'd use the Survival skill which seems to cover getting by in the wilderness. Anyone who hunts knows how to skin - one of the first things I got taught when I went out hunting with my dad and older brothers. Don't see what other rules you'd need or how detailed you wanna go, b...

Re: Legend and Common magic: Who uses it?

Keep in mind that Common Magic was Battle Magic in the earlier editions of Runequest and pretty much all of the spells had a combat focus. MRQ II / Legend was heading in the right direction, but represents an evolutionary step between earlier conceptions and RQ 6 - we were referring to Common Magic...

Re: Legend and Common magic: Who uses it?

I wonder why the entire common/sorcery system was not just a set of grimoires, that could be learned as progressive if you wanted more power, or fixed if not applicable. Apart from the full-related reason (to give different sets of magic for commoners and sorcerors) it just seems clunky and unneces...

Re: Combat actions: the Be all and end all of all combat cha

It would seem that the ability to misunderstand hyperbole extends beyond the Lizard.
Jeez.

I got nothing more to say on this. I asked a simple question and you bite my ass off.

Re: Combat actions: the Be all and end all of all combat cha

Try reading to the end of the thread before commenting Carew, you'll see that I realised that I had not completely read the differences between RQ6 and Legend correctly. I never said that RQ said what you think I said. You got me baffled. Stumped. Confused. I was querying the whole "RQ6 thinks you ...

Re: Combat actions: the Be all and end all of all combat cha

RQ6 thinks you should have 3AP's as base with combat specialists rating maybe 4AP's the very antithesis of what I originally supposed. Where's this said in the rulebook? To get 4 AP in RQ you need INT+DEX 37 or higher which you only get if you have stats ranging outside of the 18 cap for human char...

Re: Combat actions: the Be all and end all of all combat cha

I think primeevil's suggestion is making things way way more complicated than they need be. I mean point costs for every thing you can do on combat? That just makes a combat into an accounting procedure and bookepping nightmare. No thanks. :) As for 3 CA being the be and end all? Not so really. It c...

Re: Large spear questions

The Runequest game that comes after legend has a side bar called "The Head Again" where the designers discuss this problem and say that in real fighting head shots ARE a common thing because its obvious. They also give some advice for DMs on what to do about it and they have some rules on warding lo...

Re: Large spear questions

My group has a thorn in our side with the combat maneuvers: Shouldn't 'choose location' be on -critical- successes, and not regular succeseses? While the rest of the combat system both feels fun and realistic, it doesn't make sense that every joe sixpack hits people in the head with their swords an...

Re: Arcania of Legend: The Four Elemental Ways

Hey Damonjynx, I think its cool that you've got the book happening. It guess what I'm concerned with here is the speed from sbmission to layout. I am a hundred percent sure you did edit as you went but there's always a need for another editor on top of that and if an editor edits a book in just unde...

Re: Arcania of Legend: The Four Elemental Ways

Re: Large spear questions

If I was B with a spear and shield facing a guy A with just a knife, I would attack and parry using my shield because the knife guy is never gonna do me any damage and he wont be able to block any of my shield damage with a dagger. My spear might be useless but my shield isnt so that's what I would ...

Re: Reptilians v. 2.0?

Among other things I have lined up: Saurian deities and cults; Lizard Folk shamanism; Serpent People cults and orders. The Monster island book for Runequest has all these already. The lizardmen are shamans while the higher race are serpent men and sorcerers. There's lots of weird cults, new spells,...

Re: New Setting for Legend: Sheoloth - The Sprawling City

So what kind of Legend books would you like to see? Let's talk about your wish list for the New Year :) I got no problem with books like Sheloboth - city books and settings focused on a race - but I'd like to see some other races done. Minotaurs for instance, or something that doesnt get much atten...

Hey Wolf, I wasn't trying to insult you man. That's a seriously impressive list of credentials and I just think its a shame that someone wiyh a body of work like that isnt being used more effectively by the publisher. Seruiously, its a shame that its conversion work you've been confined to. I hope t...
